View Full Version : FB14P2 - Swick 2! Release Date

Swift & Quick: The original Spyderco Swick was developed for fast deployment and lightweight carry. The latest revival holds true to the original but with CPM-S30V blade steel. The Swick2 is a limited run with design elements from both Spyderco’s Sal Glesser and French knife designer Fred Perrin. Perrin, best known for adding an over-sized index finger hole to his fixed blades, uses this on the Swick. Once the finger is through the hole, the knife is safely retained in the closed hand until the finger is removed. This frees up the fingertips for using/grasping while still holding the knife in a cut-ready position.
Palm-sized, the fixed-blade’s handle is skeletal without scales allowing the user to create/add a personalized handle or cord wrap.
Made of a solid piece of tumbled-finished CPM-S30V stainless steel the blade has a Leaf-shape, fully-flat ground with The Spyderco Round Trademark Hole.
The Swick2 will be sold without a sheath or scales leaving carry options and sheath design up to the preference of its owner.
RELEASE DATE: Friday, 16-APR-2010, 1000 MDT

No offense Kristi, but i have an "old" Swick here right next to me, and it's also a stonewashed CPM-S30V?
It's my neck carry knife, and it came with a sheath.
Is the difference the fact that mine is a wharnclif blade?

Sal had mentioned it would be a tad longer overall. Not sure if that stuck to production.
Very cool stuff. Thanks TazKristi!

The Swick2 is a limited run ...
If it isn't a state secret, I kindly ask for the number of knives in this limited run. Thanks :)
Ackkk, yet another "gotta git" (Georgia for "must have")
Hi Jim,
The "2" is differernt in that it has a leaf shaped blade instead of a wharnie and the blade is about 1/4" longer. We also put a pad and 2 holes in the skeletonized handle so one could add a scale if interested.
We like to refine our designs as we learn more about what our customers like.
As far as the number. We think we made enough of them for a short run. We will probably sell them all.

So will these show in the website like any other product or do you have to order them by email or phone?
Will the Swick2 be part of collector club? Which levels? :)

I really wish these came with a sheath, I know it keeps costs down and gives more freedom of choice without. I dont know where to get one, and without it I cant really use it as a neck knife.

Keep an eye on the forums. There are people that will be making these. I bought 2 for the original swick when it came out. Worse case, you can send it to someone that works with kydex to make one for you. There are many people on here and other forums that do great work.

Kydex below,
Not the inexpensive Mule sheath in the photo.
Snaps in very securely. No chance of it falling out.
Snaps in and out with authority.

I really do need to stop by more often.
Had a hard time getting up with S Gere...hope you guys haven't. BUT, I must say it has been a turn of good luck. Eighth of Eight has been really easy to get up with...and you should see some of his stuff!
Can't wait to get my 2 Swick 2 sheaths from him and have him work me up some beautiful scales ta boot.
Good luck all.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago. Will likely make my own sheath and do a cordwrap-style handle. Love the feel/ergos on this one, and the index finger hole is very cool. My GF was pretty impressed with it as well, and she's not the knife knut I am by any means, so that's a good sign I think.

my two Swick 2 have been missing since their shipment on Apr.16th. received a note of their arrival at the customs office last week. happily collected them today. since Spydies mailed from SFO usually arrive within 10 - 14 days, I assume the delay has something to do with the disruption in air traffic caused by the Icelandic ash-cloud. I'm really happy they are finally here! :D shiny footprints, no smart remarks about USPS! :D

No doubt. Might have to get another one while they are still in stock. Great little knives, incredible ergos, S30v. How many $45 fixed blades can you say that about?

I've been using mine this weekend and agree on this being a great little knife. There does seem to be something funky with the edge geometry? I have mine exceedingly sharp, yet it does not seem to be slicing as well as I would have expected. That's a minor quibble and one that I'm sure I can figure out and deal with. The bottom line is that it is just as you say. Big (big little? ;) ) thumbs-up.

Place a really high number in the cart and the site will bring up an error and give you the remaining stock.

Somehow I landed a Swick 1 on the same order, and I thought those were long gone. Perhaps you'll get lucky with someone returning a few.
