Hi,
nice picture !
Who else is EDCing a Spyderfly ?
Cheers
Nemo
Cool photo!
How is it to flip?
Handles look light.
Enough weight at the ends to make a decent flipper?
(have never tried one)

flips fairly well IMO. They may appear to be light but the handles are actually fairly heavy for a flipper. this helps a lot when doing rollover type moves. very good flipper in my opinion, just takes a little getting used to. just make sure not to grab the wrong handle with this puppy. The combination of heavy handles and spyderco scary-sharp blade make for some very deep cuts if you aren't careful

Beauty! I thought I was the only one who liked the rainbowfly. I have one in SS and one in rainbow, the rainbow is my backup and is still in the box, pretty as ever :D

I'm no expert on the subject but it seems like it is longer/bigger than the "average" sized bali. That along with the fact that the handles do not get any closer together when opened (see above photo) which changes the handles from a traditional parallel course to a gentle "V" and that the round ends change the momentum it flips quite different than a regular flipper. Fun in its own right as well as a new challenge for a seasoned flipper looking for something "different".
I like the rainbow style too. I'd like to see it in some of the Little Big Knives, like the cricket.
Thanks, never paid much attention to 'em when they came out.
Now wished I would have! Never noticed the longish handles.
Have (2) Bali's a Benchmade 42 & Tachyon, I consider my skill level
below average compared to what I have seen some accomplish.
Some folks are just amazing.
Never realized they are always a bit :open:

I'd say that the weight is greater than that of most cheaper flys of comparable or shorter length and comparable to a med-large BM bali.
I think that the rainbow is beautiful but have seen an example where the blade has pitted with surface rust after a moderate amount of time in non-climate-controlled storage. removing the pitting seems to trash the rainbow finish so I guess the only way to restore it to something nearly as pretty as stock is to completely clean the finish from the blade and polish it bare then reattach the blade to the (unmarred) handles.

The spyderfly is really heavy in comparaison of most other balisong. His balanced is good and it can be flip easily. It need a little adaptation time due to the design but it's cool to flip with.
A video i did to the sicac, Choubbi, Fred Perrin and myself
We flip spyderfly at various moment during the video. (they are choubbi spyderfly, he's one of the french flipper whose use spyderfly as main balisong.)

It's a cool knife but too long and too heavy to be an edc (on that side of the atlantic long blade (and balisong) are not enjoyed by law force men). The smallfly ( for me) would be a real and perfect EDC (and it's a good flipper too)
