yesterday i received my sheath in the mail, made for me by Mike Billman at Grindstone Cutlery (thanks to WinstonWolf for the referral!). it's got the olive drab on the front mated w/ black on the back, wrapped in paracord along w/ a leather belt loop dyed green. i wasn't sure how i'd like the leather loop, but now that i see it, it fits well w/ the package. the fit/ finish and attention to detail is second to none.
hope you like... (i'd put a smilie face here, but i would have to delete one of the below pics to stay w/in the limit of 10 (including smilies)) : )
the dinky looking black kydex sheath is the POS one which came w/ the Woodlander from the factory

So you think that the factory sheath is junk...
but what about the knife?
Great pics! :D

Blackhair, it's not 'junk'. there is no question that the factory sheath does not compare to all custom after market kydex sheaths (that i've seen). my knife fell out of my sheath when i held it upside down to show a friend how it only snapped in 3/4". compared to the other kydex sheaths out there (including the above one), which at least cover to the first bolt/ screw in the handle ;)

So I normally hate Kydex sheeths. I'm more of a leather guy, but the combination of mixed materials and color make this one very attractive I must say.

yea, when i first picked up this knife, i ran out to my leather guy to get a nice custom sheath made. when i got it back, it was nice but not what i was looking for... the look of the knife suits kydex, so i got this one made.

 Hello, I just got a woodlander and would like to get a Grindstone sheath. I'm deaf and they have no e-mail. When I call he hangs up on my relay operator (a simple minded sort perhaps). Any idea of how to get this guy to deal with a "deaf" operator? All one needs is a single digit IQ and a little energy. It's really very easy to communicate this way by phone. I love the blade and the Grindstone looks like a nice sheath. Too bad I'm deaf, eh? (at least where Grindstone is concerned)
Also, I sharpen the convex edge with a leather strop charged with green and black bark river compound. Works great for me, this is a nice steel (hope this helps)..........

:spyder: relay's pretty simple. if he can't handle saying "go ahead" I'd look to another sheath maker.

:) :) :spyder: Thanks 2 all you folks (especially Brendan, I got the message). I appreciate it. I'll pursue this since it seems I may be able to do it without sending the blade in. It's a dandy............

INSECTOR -- send me an email - WinstonWolf@gmail.com I'll pass the info to Mike @ GrindStone if you are still looking to get the sheath from him.
It is a bummer about the relay service, I'll admit that the first time I got a call from a relay service I thought it was a prank call and hung up on them. I have since learned of their real purpose and take their calls. It serves to say that I have received both, real and scam calls over Relay service so people still have to be careful on how to respond to them.

:) :D :spyder: Hey guys- I got in touch with Michael at Grindstone. He's great! He's putting a sheath together for me that should really do this blade justice. Thanks for hooking me up. We did it all by E-mail. I guess the relay can be confusing at first, he's not the only one that is disoriented by it at first. In any event, it worked out and Mike is great to work with. As he says " this is like Burger King in that you can have the sheath any way you like it, as long as I think it's cool)..............

Hello Folks,
I've been on a "trip" for the last week and have just returned. A note to let you know that Mike Billman is the best. He put together a right handed sheath for me. He sent photos but I don't know how to post them since they are over 100 KBs. The only thing is that I am left handed so he is making another. So he now has an extra right handed sheath (with pouch) for a woodlander available for shipment. Even without having it in hand I can tell this is a very impressive piece of work (like those already shown).
Please let me or Mike know if someone would like this sheath. I am very impressed with his professionalism. Best regards,
Dale
