well i ended up getting that laptop i asked advice on in a different thread and while i am getting used to it i have been having a hard time trying to figure out how to stop the arrow from clicking on something by itself. i dont know if this a laptop (ACER) thing or a windows (VISTA) thing. basically if i happen to leave the mouse's arrow on a spot where if i did click on it say a page would open up or close ETC... it will do it automatically if that arrow stays still for about 2 seconds. it is quite annoying and i cant find anything on the internet about it let alone fixing the situation. computer gurus i need help again...please. thanks ahead of time

I have Vista and I have never had any problem like that. It must be your computer, but I'm no computer expert.

That's just plain weird Tony !
Check your mousepad settings. Different laptop vendors have different touchpad/ mousepad settings which allow 'convenient' shortcuts/ strokes to be performed if certain actions are taken by the touchpad (ie: my Toshiba can go forward or pack a page when browsing if I either tap on one or another corner or brush my finger left or right. Refresh if I tap bottom right etc.) Some or all of these are user definable. Check that the setting you have on your laptop doesn't say something like If press and hold for 2seconds 'click left mouse' etc....
If all else fails, and you don't currently have an antivirus software , then please go out to the shops quickly and invest in one.
I think it is a laptop software setting rather than a Vista one.
Cheers

Do you have the Touchpad that you are using or a connected mouse?
If you are using the touchpad, you can adjust the sensitivity in the control panel.
Mouse settings can be adjusted, also.

This sounds like a laptop problem to me. I have Windows Vista, and I've never had anything like that happen. Plus, laptop mousepad thingies have always given me trouble, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was that.

thanks guys...i needed to narrow the choices down between vista and acer..i moved the auto drag lock settings to a longer time in the auto release section(no freaking idea what that is, i just started playing around with the settings) and that seems to have worked. i also found out how to make the desktop icons a normal size instead of the visually impaired versions. thanks!
