I'm not real big on Columbia River Knife & Tool...
But I bought their "edgie" from Josh @ Knifezilla.com
More for Maj. Howard Pope's built-in sharpening device -

Here's a thought : wouldn't such a device be great in, say a
Delica or Endura? Or a knife of :spyder: design?

I think it is a good idea in concept, but since I don't have one I do not how well it works or how well it would hold up. Personally I prefer for a knife to have just a blade, unless its a multitool of course;)

I won't want that on my Delica. It's a very course git on the edgie - ok for touch ups after cutting lots of cardboard. But not wicked sharp.
ok, compare it to this knife which also sharpens itself.

Cool knife kinda expensive though...
the small fixed blade is really nice (MA-2/II) is on my list already...:)

well I think all of those are quite expensive.
The MA-2/II reminds me of a more legal version of what the Night Slasher used in Cobra.

I have an Edgie & the sharpener puts a very rough edge on the knife. I use it like a utility knife, but the crude edge would not be something I would be happy with on a Spyderco or any knife I carry on a regular basis.

Hi Allen, long time no see bro. :)
So you finally got yourself an Edgie... Enjoy it, it's an interesting piece of engineering.
Does the blade glide over the file every time you open / close the knife or is there a switch to raise the file so you don't need to touch the blade more than necesary?
Some time ago (a couple years ago, to be more precise), I was thinking at a somehow similar device: a pair of sharpening discs attached to an OTF, so when the blade pops out (and back in), those discs will touch the edge. I'm not very sure it's a practical idea, though, after all you don't need to sharpen the knife each and every time you open or close it.

The blade glides over the file on opening / closing. It does leave a
rough edge, intentionally so. The "wire edge" is left, however, after
it wears down one has to open & close the blade to get the "wire
edge" back.

Nice knife. And I love how that informational video was so modest about the knife's abilities :p
It's a neat idea, but I'd rather have a blade without that blasted chisel grind.

I was bored after three minutes. If you need to use so much difficult technical terms to explain something as simple as a folding knife it means the whole thing is too complicated and bad.
If you put that thing in an arena with a Manix, the Manix wins, hands tied on it's back.

This makes a lot more sense with those OTF auto knives IMO. Interesting idea.
