Some pics of this wonderfully sinewy blade :p The C83BMP Persian, also called the full sized Persian, now pitifully discontinued :( . Comes with black micarta slabs and s/s bolsters. Thankfully though the mini Persian C105BMP is almost as sexy. I wonder if a nice black bladed version of this svelte knife will be considered ;)
Just doing a pictorial essay of it. Sorry not very solid shots as I got too excited to even bother using a tripod, nor decent lighting. I might do a full review of it soon with better pics.

nice pix of the Persian Daniel......sinewy indeed! :)
Nice pictures Daniel.
I am looking forward to see more pictures and your review. I glad that you were able to get one, I remember that you were looking. http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28975
Too bad Persian was discontinued. :( :(
May be we will lucky to have a sprint run. With full flat grind it will be even better looking, at least in several people opinion. Cocobolo would be very nice.

Hey Daniel
Nice pics mate. We seem to share similar taste in knives. I also have both Persians, they really are nice knives. I am surprised at the size of the native
I still don't have one of those, they look like they would make a very good EDC.

Frank,
PM me your postal address. As I am more than happy to loan you my EDC Native pictured above for a few weeks if you want :)
They make an excellent EDC blade for GP as well as for SD purposes ! In fact here I am posting on the forums at 8:30pm, and I have that knife tucked in my tracky daks waistband :D

Lol, it surprises me that Giant1 has no Natives in his collection as he has many very desireable Spydies, yet the Native is one of the longest standing and largest selling Spyderco's out there. So I make this offer for a Spyder brother from another mother :D in my country so he may feel the power of the Native
Frank, the 2 on the right in the pic below can be yours for a few weeks if you would like. They are Native III's in PE and CE dress.

And Felly, here downunder many folk call tracksuits- tracky daks (or just plain trackys/ trackies) , some call underwear- underdaks :p This is where a light FRN handled blade is great, dosn't pull your tracky daks or shorts down as much as say a heavy blade like the Chinook/ Manix/ Persian/ Forrester

The full size Persian is a Spydie that I regret not getting, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I think the full size persian actually looks marginally better than the mini. The proportions just look better all around. I only own a mini though because I know I'd never carry the full sized. It's just too dang big for me as an EDC. I think a lot of people may have felt that way and thus why it was disco'd.

How did it manage to do this? And why did you not include a picture :D
My mini has been sitting on my desk being photographed for about 2 weeks now, and in gross danger of being carried and used. I might even somehow find a daring soul to do a full flat grind for me before I even touch it ;)

Hi drf,
Well done on grabbing a Large Persian. They aren't easy or cheap to come by, and another reason why I think Spyderco should release a sprint run of a White linen micarta Persian (hi Sal ;) )
I love the Persians and am hoping to get a few more (as backups..... how many backups does one need again? :p)
I am actually EDC'ing the mini Persian now and it is a beautiful knife to handle on a continual basis. I'll try to post more pics of both the mini and maxi later

I thought I'd quickly revive this thread in respect of the mini Persian. I've got a few Large Persians because I love it, but even more so I love the Mini Persian and it carries a bit better for EDC than the Maxi Persian.
Like many of Spyderco's offerings some aren't even considered by buyers because they look like they can't fit into their idea of an ideal knife. I would have to say to anyone who hasn't got one yet to go at least handle the Mini Persian.
Am I incorrect in saying that this is the only current production Spydie with micarta ???
Am I incorrect in saying that this is the only current production Spydie with micarta ???
To the best of my knowledge, it is the only current folder. Hossoms also have micarta. I love micarta, hopefully Phoenix will be here shortly.
BTW, how many is few (Large Persians)? :D
Also I think that few (something like ten in this case) pictures, which illustrate your point would be helpful. :)

Hi amen74,
I sometimes carry them together :D But most of the time they ride separately as they seem to argue to be used :p
Add them to your EDC NOW ! The mini Persians are going for under $90 at most places and eBay have bargains on them at times (check now ;) ) The Mini Persian has been scarce lately due to micarta shortage, but they are out again. Grab one or more before they lose favour and get disco'd :O
Nice pictures Dan. Your Persians look sharp, be careful, you know :)

I know this is an old thread.......but....
I just wanted say again, that those Maxi-Persians are such bangin' beautiful knives. There are so many little things that make it look much better than the Mini-Persian.
It's nice to see the more updated pics and to know that the Big Persian gets some good use. That's always nice to see.
Thanks for sharing Daniel. ;) You've got wonderful taste in knives, watches, writing instruments, and a few other things.
On a side note, thanks again for the lanyards. I still have them all and I move them around to different knives from time to time. :)

Just to add fuel to the fire and to tease everyone and make suggestions to Sal. What do you guys think of the following Mini Persian :D ;)
For the benefit of Roman and other Persian fan(atics) like myself - Ivory micarta, polished factory clip.
Should I do it?
Should Spyderco do it ?
Anyone know of a knife mechanic willing and able to take on the ivory micarta job can you please suggest to me.

Nice picture Dan, :)
this knife has absolutely beautiful lines. I love FFG blades, but lately I start to think that beauty of Persian certainly benefits from hollow grind, which create an extra line. This knife design to perfection.
I love your thinking about Persian Sprint. I would love to see a little darker color like Antique Ivory Micarta, but I will buy even pink FRN Persian (rip FRN off and put Antique Ivory Micarta :D:D)
ozspyder
07-10-2008, 05:47 PM
I'll see if I can make that cream a slightly darker shade.
Roman, agree on the Persian. My personal preference is probably for the Ivory Micarta Persian & Mini with existing factory sabre grind. Though a FFG would make it slice like a demon :p
EDIT: Made micarta above slightly darker/ yellower
David Lowry
07-10-2008, 09:01 PM
Daniel, I think that would look beautiful. I would want the grind and everything else to stay the same. I would only want the Black micarta to be Ivory instead, and have a polished clip. Maybe even a different colored Spyder bug on the blade. I would love to see Gold again that wouldn't wear off, or even red.
