I was in the market for a carry 9mm and made up my mind that I was going to get a Glock 19.I went to a gun show today but all the used Glocks I saw were very used and beat up at a new price or better. One guy had a G19 2nd gen with alot of wear he was asking 600.00 for.
I was about to break down and buy a new one from a dealer when I saw someone with a Sig box and asked him what he had.It was a Sig 232 .380 auto, one I had thought about for some time. While he was showing it to me and saying what he wanted for it 3 other guys where in line waiting for me to say no thanks.I don't want to say what I ended up getting it for but after I said I would take it at a good or maybe a little better than good price he said walk out to my truck and I will get you the rest of it.He got out a like new Galco shoulder holster with double mag pouch and a nylon holster for it.
With the Galco holster I ended up getting a really great deal on it.
OH BTW I forgot about the wood grips he had on it,when I cleaned it the grips still had the price sticker on the back,79.95.

I've heard very good things about the Sig P232. Very reliable. I think .380 ACP has gotten some criticizm that it doesn't deserve. As a defensive handgun, good shot placement supercedes caliber to a large extent. Two rounds center mass with .380 ACP are far better than a miss or extremity hit with .45 auto or .357.
Hell, 007 James Bond packed a Walther PPK in .32 auto as his main sidearm. :p But then again, we don't get to carry laser-beam pens and C-4 toothpaste.

I feel that, as a movie nerd, I should interject that Bond carried the walther only because he was forced to... he originally packed a Beretta with an even shorter barrel and was known in the novels to carry a Browning.

Best .380 out there, I have two Walthers but I would rather have one Sig 232.
I could kick James Bond's keister, for you see, he is a fictional character. :D
Watch:
James knew zenheretic was closing fast and his only chance was a well placed shot with his trusty Walther PPK. Forcing his hand under his tuxedo, James was horrified to find that his cumberbun had bunched up over his holster. He should have dressed more carefully after that tussle with Pussy Galore's daughter, Tittie Galore. Realizing his reminising has cost himself precious seconds, James Bond looks up just in time to see the bottom of Zenheretic's New Balance shoe rush in to kiss him in the face with a debilitating side thrust kick. James crumpled to the floor, with a red throbbing New Balance logo imprint on his forehead. Zenheretic hobbles to the stairwell, nursing a pulled groin.
See. ;)

Zen, you crazy kid(well, old guy to me I guess lmao) You crack me up brother.
episteme is right. You could carry a .22 on your hip and as long as you can hit what you aim for, you're golden(makes this a spydie thread). I always here, I want the knock-down power. That doesn't matter really. One or two shots is all it should ever take.

Excellent catch. Definitely one of the top .380's out there today.
Congradulations. Bigk6
Sig's handguns are top notch!
I notice you have the mag stuffed full of hollowpoints. Good choice!

Great buy with the Sig. Glocks can be bought at pretty cheap prices on auctionarms.com. You might want to check it out.

Yeah,I have been seeing some ok prices on Glocktalk but all the FFL holders around here charge to much to receive them.
I think I am in love with this Sig though.
Speaking of Glocks, I saw a movie tonight on tv. The whole story was based on a Glock 22 model in .357 magnum. I did not know nor think there is such a gun in that caliber? I think the movie was "Cold Case Files"?

Well it is actually the .357 Sig round which has similar balistics to a .357 mag. Basically it is a .40 necked down to a 9mm. Obviously Sig came out with it. A few other compaines match the caliber. The nice thing about it is that it is supposed to shoot flatter than .40. Also just an easy barrel change is all you need, the .40 mag works just fine. This is confirmed in my Sig...results may vary in other brands.

Yeah,to go from .357 Sig to 40. SW or the other way around all you need to do is swap barrels on most guns.
The .357 Sig is a great round.I have seen tests where is noses out the .357 Mag.The two are very close in every way except the .357 Sig is a much smaller round.

Ok so what is the hottest most deadly round I can use in this.I heard mag safe wasn't the best anymore.I did see some at a local gun shop, they had samples that were fired into a wet phone book. The expanded into a very sharp star shape, looked very nasty but I forgot the name of them.
I have Federal Hydro-shocks in it now.

Interesting they would be doing a movie based on the Glock G22 in .357 Sig as the G22 is a 40 S&W model. They had to do the conversion if it was a .357 Sig.
Good deal J, I really don't know much about this particular gun, but I do know that the Sig makes a great gun.
If you can find them, one of the best .380 rounds I believe is a CorBon DPX round. It is getting great reviews, but seems to be a bit hard to find. I have been looking for several weeks to find some locally with no luck. Here is a review on it. http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/Bersa%20Thunder.htm
I have a Kel-tec P3AT in .380 that I like very much. I also have a Glock G27 that I like, but it sure is not as easy to carry. The P3 just goes anywhere and disappears. For now I am carrying either the Speer Gold Dots or the regular CorBon JHP rounds, The latter are a pretty hot round in the .380.
Have fun with your new toy. I know that many poo poo the .380, but I would sure much rather have it on my person than my G27 at home!!
A pic of my EDC.

Don't worry about using the exotic loads, stick with the Hydrashocks or any of the Cor-bon loads. (make sure they feed reliably before carrying the weapon) They will serve you well. Now go burn some ammo and get used to that Sig. Bigk6

Be careful using the hot loads in the Keltec. When I got mine the dealer said that it would not handle the very hot ammo.

Gold Dots, Hydroshock, Corbon, or even Round nose hardball would be my choice for the .380 as you will need the penetration, most HPs in that caliber don't expand out of a short tube and at least the Hardnose round will always chamber without a problem, my .380's always have hardball in them....stay away from the expensive exotics, ie Magsafe, Glasers, etc. They won't get the job done as penetration just isn't there and both the glasers and magsafes are not very accurate....Doc:D
I don't shoot the hot loads as practice rounds. Normally I just use the Winchester White Box rounds for practice. I only shoot enough of the CorBon stuff to feel that it will work properly and then just for carry. Supposedly, the Kel Tec was used in the development of the DPX round. It will handle the hot loads, just not a steady feeding of them.

Nice pick. BTW - I think that if you join GSSF (the Glock "club") you can get a Glock 19 direct from the factory (shipped to a dealer) for a bit over $400. I'll try to find the exact price and revise later.

Some parts of the country that is a good deal but most dealers here sell them for around 450.00 anyway.
Thanks for all the info. I really didn't know that there was another .357 magnum round. I assume they are not interchangeable tho. My .357 mag. regular round would not work in a Sig or viseaversa? I haven't kept up on all the ammo. Too busy reading about knives I guess.

No the .357 Sig is not interchangeable with a .357 Magnum. 357 sig is a necked down .40 S&W so is MUCH shorter than Magnum round. ;)
