It hasn't been that long since there was a considerable amount of positive conversation about the anticipation of Spyderco's newest Hawkbill > that being the SUPERHAWK. Well I along with a few other devout Hawkbill fans have been fervently looking forward to the release of the SUPERHAWK.
Since the BLADE show I have not heard much of anything about it or where it stands on Spyderco's list of models to be released. If any of you know anything or have heard anything about where it stands in the order of new releases I along with others would be very grateful if you would share it with the rest of us.
Because>> Now's The Time: For A New Hawkbill>>>~~ A SUPERHAWKbill that is

I'm curious as well. I'm lacking a consistent primary EDC, and this will fill that void nicely.
What's the latest on it?

I am also interested in this knife! I have never tried a hawkbill let alone a hawkbill w/ CF and compression lock

I guess I should have been a bit more specific. Has anyone of you heard a tentative release date? Do we even know for sure that the release of it is a certainty?
Personally it is the release of the year that I am looking most forward to along with the P'Kal. But the SUPERHAWK can truly change the Hawkbill landscape which will be great for all of us.
There is a verse in scripture that comes to mind concerning this matter>> "you have not because you ask not" James 4:2

No, and no. That's what makes me so curious. We've seen no pictures of any type, which makes me a little nervous, coupled with Sal's comment a while back around Hawkbills having poor sales.:o

Same here! Are there any photos yet either?

An update on many releases are somewhat overdue, it seems... But, perhaps these new ones are like a souffle' - too much noise and they collapse in on themselves. (j/k) :p
Any news on the SuperHawk would be welcome!! (Insert pleading emoticon here.)

It also seems like the SUPERHAWK was indeed getting a lot of fanfare about a couple of months ago and then it just faded away quickly. The Harpy as wonderful of a Hawkbill blade as it has been over the years just can't do what a bigger Hawkbill like the C-77 Spyderhawk can. The fishing industry along with a few other trades that use Hawkbill knives I am sure would patronize a new, serious HaWKBILL.
If for what ever reason The SUPERHAWK can't come forward as planned I would at least like to see a new, revamped C-77 Spyderhawk.

My Dear J.D.:
If for what ever reason The SUPERHAWK can't come forward as planned I would at least like to see a new, revamped C-77 Spyderhawk.
I also wish we could get some kind of progress report on the Superhawk. I will not ask for a release date, only a "this is where we are report" so to speak if Sal is willing. The Superhawk and the Pikal are the two Spyderco knives I am most interested in right now, and if either of them are going to be released in the forseeable future I would hold off buying other knives until such time as I could get what I really want - one of these two knives. ;)
I must have a Lava, of course, but a guy has to have his priorities straight!
My very best to you, my friend!

I'm trying to be patient, too! I can only commit to buying a few of these when they come out, but hope others I know will want them when they see 'em "in the steel" so to speak...

Well guys/gals we need to keep beating the drum for this one. It is the best Hawkbill news I've heard in a long while and we need to let the Spyder Factory know that we are very interested in the SUPERHAWK. I still think this could be a winning card for them as well.
Maybe one of the reasons for lagging Hawkbill sales is because the Harpy has been around so long that even Hawkbill fans are wanting something new as well as rest of us devotees.
I would even like to see a beefy version in the same tradition as the GUNTING, Manix and CHINOOK.

(Ok so that's a quote from Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
I just can't wait to see another hawkbill!!! Especially a big one!!!
Mr. Sal, sir, please? I will most certainly buy at least one SuperHawk...and please make a PE version????!!!:D
Thank you!!!
Put me down as being part of the Hawkbill fanbase. :p

I got an idea>> make this the first Hawkbill in all 3 blade configurations>> combo edge, plain edge and fully serrated. I have always wanted a combo edge Hawkbill and I have wondered why they never made one yet.
I knew some more of you guys would come out of the WOODWORK to echo our fervor for a New Hawkbill>> It's about time you think?
Also make it in 3 different handles>> FRN for those who are economy minded~~~ Micarta for show offs~~~G-10 for us who work with Hawkbills>>> but of course the limited edition that was announced with "Peel Ply" Carbon Fiber. Whoops I guess that's 4 but who's counting. JD:spyder: O

Nice plan, JD, but they'll need to set up a payment plan so I can afford all 12 variations! :D What a problem to have, though- I'm game, if they are!
My first variation/ pick of the litter would definitely be the G-10 or the Peel Ply CF as the "grippy" version when available, and I'd opt for the SE first, with a PE on layaway! (Heck, I even forget what it is supposed to be when it is released, it's been so long. )

Michael Cook claims he has one of those already :D :D Plus he has a new way of sharpening it too  . But I do agree with you SIR we have a void here in Spyderville and Now is the time for a New Hawkbill>> Maybe the squeaky wheel method will work

The model is being made in Seki. VG-10 blade 3.5" full flat. Handle is peel ply carbon fiber with a nested compression lock.
I haven't seen any comments on this aspect. AFAIK, all previous hawkbills are hollow ground. It should be interesting to see how a full flat one performs.
The Superhawk has a finger choil so it's an "afi" model.
Again, I haven't seen any comment on this, another hawkbill first. I assume hawkbill fans are afis, and will be pleased?
