Stainless steel silverwear and bleach do not mix well.

Had to move out of my place for a couple weeks while the roof was being redone and left some dishes in the sink. THAT was bad idea #1.

Came home and started cleaning up and saw mold in several things, decided to soak them in bleachy hot water. THAT was bad idea #2. Clearly could have been avoided by not letting #1 happen.

The plates and bowls were fine, but the silverwear had some sort of coating on it that the bleach ate right through at any weakpoint it could find, and corroded them extremely quickly. I remember from high school chemistry that Chlorine is an extremely reactive substance, but remembered too late...

Anyway, just wanted to share that "Moment of DUH!"

Maybe the next corrosion tests done by MacTech and Scott could be done with bleach :o
