View Full Version : Hawkbill Necker Proto and a sneak peek:)
Since there are a few hawkbill aficionados around these parts I thought I would share this prototype with you guys first :)
I wanted to make a small hawkbill necker and think I came up with a decent idea. I put it to plexiglass and it is small but feels right. What do you folks think...is it a candidate for some steel????I planned on textured G-10 for the handle slabs. Not sure of the fasteners yet????
Also here is a sneek peek of a Ti necker I am going to be finishing up tomorrow morning. Gonna torch the edge to give it some retention but it will still not get as good an edge as steel. Something I wanted to try???? It will have translucent G-10 scales and depending on how the edge looks torched it might stay that way or get a good bead blastings.
Thanks for looking and Take Care!!!

Interesting Craig. Looks like it's dying to have a fob put on it.

this reminds me--how easy would it be to grind the yet unreleased SWICK into a hawkbill?
i like the idea of a hawkbill neck knife

My Dear Friend,
When you get a hawk blade or two into production please let me know; I would love to see about obtaining one! Wonderful design!

I like it, the only thing I would change is based on
a personal preference. I would like it better with a deeper
choil.
Other than that, I think I would buy one.
Thanks guys:)
Ghostrider...everything in life needs a fob on it :D

Nice design and looks handy too. Looking forward to see the final result. Also intrugued about the Ti knife. Looks like you want to take the bread away from those guys at Mission Knives ;)

Very Nice CKE. IIRC, mister Dean, got one of your design and said something about how he was very impressed by all the details in such a small package. It looks like you are specializing in a niche of small fixed blade. And as I can see from your drawings, this looks like a winner as a neck knife. I would surprizingly be interested  in getting one myself.
Like previous posts, some tuning and get go on a real live one...
Very nice work,

Great design, I'll be looking forward to see it finished. What material do you plan on using for the handle?

Here is a man with a lot of class ( CKE) . It takes a person who goes against the normal flow to appreciate great Hawkbills ;) .
I too like your design. When you let Doctor Lecter know when they are available then go ahead and put me down too. May GOD bless you and yours my friend ;) :spyder:
Thanks guys. The Ti one is almost done. It will have translucent G-10 handles. The hawkbill will have textured G-10 maybe burgundy????
