Good day, all.

This evening at sundown marks the beginning of the Celtic New Year, essentially the equivalent of midnight on Dec 31 (the Celts began the day at sunset, not sunrise). This is to the best of my recollection.

Hallows is my favorite holiday, bar none, and always has been. The opportunity to become someone you're not has always fascinated me.

This evening also brings a block party for the local children, and my family and I will be in attendance. My daughter, true to her typically creepy self, is going to be dressed as some kind of ghoulish creature. My Lady is not dressing up this year, instead opting to take our 75 lb Black Lab dressed as Tinkerbell (the poor dog is already embarrassed beyond belief). I am going as, well, me  I found the necessary mask and have put the finishing touches on it just a few moments ago.

Pics will likely follow... :D

I am almost embarrassed to say what I am going as. Maybe I will just post a pic and you all can point and laugh. The little one is a bear and my wife is a clown.

As a Heathen, Halloween (Samhain) is paticularly fun for me :D !! I hope everyone has a great day! It's nice to know the dead of the past year get to go on to the other side tonight.
Cheers,
Rob

Will just be bouncing back and forth between the forums, a bit of research I'm doing, and answering the door. So much of a turnover in tenants here, hard to guess from one year to the next how many kids will show up. Thankfully, the gang at work attack a bowl of candy like a horde of locusts, so at least I won't gain twenty pounds if the turnout is light tonight.

My Dear Rob,

As a Heathen, Halloween (Samhain) is particularly fun for me :D !! I hope everyone has a great day! It's nice to know the dead of the past year get to go on to the other side tonight.

I know way too much about most New Age faiths to ever refer to you as a heathen. :D Paegan, maybe. ;)

For the record, I also prefer the term Samhain. Shadowfest is also a favorite.

Mine wants to be just like his Daddy... little one's just sleeping through (4 shots today for her Halloween "treat"). My soldier boy is making out like a bandit though, he's already been back home twice to empty out his pumpkin!

I note that the lab has escaped further embarassment by avoiding the portrait portion of the festivities... :D

Aloha dear Hannibal!

Man, that sounds like some of my co-workers...they think wearing the uniform makes them "invincible". Funny in that I wear the same uniform, but mine has no big "S" on the chest? :p

I spent my Halloween in a most fitting place tonight: Hell!!! Sad thing is, these "costumed individuals" I had to apply the three C's to (care, custody, and control) are always in costume!

God bless everyone! :)

Hey Dr. Lecter,
Believe it or not but I actually like "Heathen" over "Pagan" :D . Pagan is Latin in origin, Heathen is Germanic in origin. I have more than a passing interest in Celtic religions, though an Odinist myself, isn't it funny how 3,000+ year old religions are still grouped in together with the whole "new age" thing  . Anyway, you made me laugh and for that, thanks :D :D

Here is a pic of Auggie's Halloween costume. It was very hard to get this photo as he was quite the wiggler yesterday.

Cheers and best wishes, Rob
