I am still waiting on a package that was sent from CA via priority on Dec 22 this one got here, with the weather problems in Ca it had gotton wet and the address was unreadable
Now today I find out that they delivered my Sebenza from another deal to a company in Knoxville TN
I think I might start useing UPS only.At least you can track everywhere it goes.

Yes. We sent a Priority Mail item to a friend in December. It took two weeks!! So much for "priority"...

Same problem here too. Item supposed to have been shipped Dec.27th. Not here yet. Shipped First Class so I don't think it will ever get here? UPS sounds much better. Insured and tracking number included. USPS way too slow if not at all. Priority is a little faster and more reliable. Forget First Class altogther. Bagged items arrived crushed with big foot prints on the bag. Boxes First Class arrive somewhat crushed with foot prints included.

Well I just got my Sebenza after a 100 mile round trip to go pick it up.
Wonder if the Post Office will give me a roll of stamps for my time and gas?

I've had lot's of USPS packages and envelopes, including one with a Sebenza. All took less then a week from the east-coast of the US to the Netherlands.
The latest was a C64-joystick with built in games, a couple of weeks ago...

Update: My item came just awhile ago in today's mail. It was First Class. The bagged item's box was somewhat crushed but the item is ok. First Class is painfully slow. I doubt that I would ever use it. At least Priority seems quicker?

No problems here, perhaps one or two packages that took a day longer than usual. Kind of expect that during the holiday rush. My local Post Office is great and perhaps I've just been lucky that everyone I've done business with. both here and abroad, has a really good one too. Know from other towns I've lived in that some Post Offices are not as good as others. Am curious Jeff, as to how and why that Sebbie got delivered to the wrong place and how you found out about it. Was it really the Post Office's fault, or was it mis-addressed (wrong city and/or wrong zip)?

USPS is much better than big brown imho, I order cds from a label in Washington state on Monday, the package allways gets to NY by Wednesday, some of it has to do with the sender, but I'm convinced that the guys from UPS take their slow pill every morning.

I guess it depends on where you are. I personally have written off using the post office. A Spyder Brother & I sent items to each other about a month or so ago. His item got to me in 2 days. It took about 9 days for my item to get to him. Both were sent priority ( OK quit laughing so I can get this done)
well I guess I need to get my Webster's Collegiate dictionary out and find out the new definition for PRIORITY. It sure won't be the same as the old one. What's more laughable is that they gave me a tracking number only to find out that their tracking number only tells you that it was delivered or not ( very much the opposite of UPS's tracking #). That's why I dumped them.

I have had that USPS tracking problem before as well. Contacted them and they told me it only had delivery confirmation not tracking, that next time I need to purchase tracking. Recently I had a package shipped overnight with FedEX on Dec. 22nd I recieved the package on Dec. 30th. I guess I need to look up the new definition of overnight as well. Needless to say I have had many problems with FedEx, so I am done with them.

I have had no problems at all except the day longer type thing up until about a month ago.I still haven't recieved the package from CA that was mailed on Dec 22nd.I have sent 2 more that did not get the Del Con #s scaned.
Deacon,I went online yesterday to run the del con # to see if it had gotton to my PO that morning because I was expecting it Tuesday. The USPS website said it had been delivered in Knoxville.
I knew it was insured but I did not have the number. So I go to my PO and they looked up the del con # and found the insurance #.They were able to tell me the address and the persons name that signed for it.It was delivered to a company called
Melaleuca INC
5301 N National drive
Knoxville TN 37922
The package was addressed clearly to me with the correct zip.
The lady I spoke with at Melaleuca was very nice, found the package and returned my call with in 10 min.She said she would hold it for me to pick up or give it back to the Postman.I did not think it a good idea to give it back to the same moron that can't tell Harriman from Knoxville.

USPS is fine for items that you are in no hurry to get anywhere and don't care much about.

For everything else, there's UPS. ;)

If you suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder, the USPS will make you either suicidal or homicidal, depending on numerous factors including whether you are the sender or recipient of said package.

JD, I am quite convinced your Spyder Brother trusted you and thought only the best of you then as now.

Hannibal, thanks for the good laugh regarding the obsessive-compulsive.

However, I react in the opposite, as I'm most homicidal when I get to watch a package via tracking, slowly make its' way to me. It has to enter the "time stands still portal", (aka Canadian Customs) for around a week. Then, every day, you get to wonder if a "you can't have this" siezure is coming your way. With USPS handing off to Canada Post, for me anyway, it's a pleasant day somewhere around 8 to 14 days later when it arrives. Break out a refreshing "bevarage", and cut it out :D . Considering the ridiculous brokerage fees some courier outfits (UPS) charge, I have been able, most of the time, to be a bit more patient.

I also had a problem with a priority package. It took 9 days, but it was over the holidays so I gave them some slack for the delay.

I understand completely, but if I can see it being tracked I at least know it may eventually get here.

You should see what happens if I miss a delivery by getting home late.

The package was addressed clearly to me with the correct zip.Dang Jeff, that's sooo weird. While you have to figure with an outfit the size of USPS, theres going to be a screwup every now and then, most of the time you can kind of puzzle out what went wrong (like with that other package of yours). Bad address, someone gets sloppy with the tape and two things get stuck together, stuff like that. But to deliver something to the wrong address and get it signed for goes "above and beyond" that. On the other side of the coin, just got three packages here today, two sent Priority by two different people in CO, one sent first class from MA, all mailed on the 4th. One, containing posters, was a bit damaged, but I blame poor packing and poor choice of container by the shipper, not the PO for that.

Hello "severdthumbs" my friend. It seems like we cross a lot of paths here on the good old Forum. All good and enlightening. What I am trying to emphasize about the Post Office's tracking numbers is that they are really "non-tracking numbers". Please don't make the same mistake I did by paying extra for their phony "non-tracking number". You will find out just like I did that their number will only tell you when the package arrived. I asked the lady at the Post Office when I was trying to track Hannibal's package this question: Can you at least tell me whether the package is in the U. S. or not? She said and I quote: I can't tell you with any certainty where the package is until it arrives. And I paid about $3 extra for that. This reply is meant to be a help to you Sir and I hope it will be. While I think what happened to Jeff stinks, I also think it's possible for all of the mail services to provide less than acceptable performance.

I had a UPS Ground package take 17 days to get to me from California last fall. All I got from UPS ... was .., "we're sorry". I too experienced delays via USPS mail during the latter part of December ... Not good, but on whole how can you beat $3.85 for a USPS Priority Mail shipment in a box (with delivery confirmation if you do it via the net) that normally arrives in 2 to 3 days.

I can't afford to pay the 7 to 9 bucks that UPS charges the little guy for a common ground shipment...

JD is absolutely right. This is an important point with the PO if you're talking about "Delivery Confirmation" ... You do get confirmation numbers, but it's all about confirmation that it got delivered, not the detailed tracking info you might get from UPS or FedEx.

If you sell on Ebay, this can be important as I did have one guy claim that a piece of camping equipment I sold him didn't show up .... After investigation (days ...) and him looking around a bit ... it seems his absent roomate took it in and threw it in a closet ... or so the story went .. Anyway .., the ONLY proof I had that it was delivered was the PO Delivery Confirmation.

Apparently I worded one of my responses in a way that was misunderstood. If I offended any of you guys/gals in any way I apologize. I love all my Spyderland brothers & sisters and in no way am I upset with anyone. I am upset with this completey inept Post Office that we have been talking about but I am not in any way upset with anyone in Spyderland. I know that sometimes we toss words around and vent our frustrations from time to time but I have never been angry with any of you all. If I stepped on anyone's toes on this thread then please accept my sincere apologies. GOD Bless you all. JD Spydo :)

My US partner sends everything over to the Netherlands by USPS Global Priority enveloppes. I have no reason to complain. All shipments came in and all within a weeks time. I like USPS. UPS on the otherhand was charging me crazy for all kind of shipping and customs fees. I resist very much using their service for international shipping. :spyder:
