I had myself an "experience" today...

I went to the local library to use their computer - I logged in using
my library card, did my e-mail, PayPal, then tried to access this site
and came into a roadblock....

Restricted Area

Cyber Patrol

To surf & protect

Reason : weapons

Now, mind you, the library is public and supposedly for the patrons,
but along come's "Big Brother" to block access to a site I normally use. This
trend hasn't ( yet ) affected the Sterling library @ Yale, but I see a day
when any computer ( other than your own ) will feature this Orwellian nightmare.
I'm surprised it didn't send a silent 911 to the cops. I don't mind
telling you how I felt like telling the library what to do with their card.

No, Big Brother won't come in the form of Government, but from these
"little people" who have this bugbear about "safety & security" at the
expense of person liberty & freedom. If I'm gonna "stay safe" it'll be half
way across town from this BS.

Funny, I could access websites dedicated to "gangsta rap"

Makes you laugh sometimes
Can't win can we Allen. Popped into a few places today and they got rid of all their Spydie stock cause it was illegal. They don't even know what is illegal or not in their own store. It PO's me too sometimes. Ah well, Take Care!!!

Big Bro is getting bigger each years...

We are leaving in poor countrys where our children cannot even watch porn or buy weapon online... Seriously, we are losing our liberty pieces per pieces, that's sad, and that's just the beganing.

That's not funny. Ignorance is dangerous.

Alex -

"Funny" in the English language can also mean "strange", when I
mentioned "funny" with regards to "gangsta rap" websites the inference
was that it was strange I could access them & not Spyderco.com.

Gangsta rap with it's profanity & canonization of wanton street violence
isn't dangerous, it's uncalled for.

Sorry Allen, the last message was not for you. It is my fault, I should have been more specific (a quote or something). It was a comment for Nicky's post:
"We are leaving in poor countrys where our children cannot even watch porn or buy weapons online..." It sounds a bit ironic to me.
