That looks great! Definitely nicer than my DIY aluminum stock and washer setup! Great minds...though ;)

Ya the brace comes in handy to keep stuff from sliding around. That pic is actually from 7 years ago when my truck was brand new... I still haven't gotten around to the bed lights, bike mounts, inverter...

I did add a keyless tailgate lock. It's a POS that blocks the gate latch rather than disconnecting it, but I think they are all like that. It's needed a new spring and to be re-lubed every couple years. I should go on the hunt for a better solution.

The Truxedo Deuce tonneau cover has been awesome though. It rolls up fully, but also folds from the cab for access to the front of the bed. It still looks and works great after 7 years ungaraged and regular rolling and unrolling.

I have an Access Tonneau cover. Love it. It has always been my go to since 2007, but I am really wanting to upgrade to a Softopper or Bestop. Bestop bought Softopper a year or so ago. Best I can tell, Softopper is a little quicker to operate if you want to take it fully down. Bestop has the nicer slide in lock system over the button down and a better system at the tailgate IMHO.

Anyone have experience with either of those?

I don’t myself , My last to tonneau covers have been Trifectas. One I have now has the heavy duty material option. Dan

I like the full size shovel instead of an adjustable. I need to see if compatible with my bed cover . Dan

So nice, with bulletproof reliability, if you can afford the gas.

The only question is when was the head gasket done? Depending on the miles may be due for #2… Cuz if it ain’t been, it’s about to be!

Amen.

I draw the line when they start communicating with the mother ship and thinking for you.

I love some of the results of the current techno-gee-whizery that passes for automotive design, but I'd give it all up for a car or truck with crank windows, a manual transmission and room in the engine bay to actually see (let alone reach) all the important parts...

My '07 Volvo XC70 is amazing in the snow with all of its electronic "nannies" engaged, but I used to do just fine in my '79 245 with studded snows on the back :D

Too many first world motorists are being lulled into becoming far worse drivers than we used to be back when vehicles didn't "help" drive themselves...

Modern Toyotas are excellent trucks, no doubt about that, but there's something about the old school super-basic machines that can't be replaced by technology!

My favorite pickup was a 1969 Chevy C10, long bed. It had a 4 speed manual with unsynchronized creeper first gear (so essentially a 3 speed) and no power anything, including brakes! the steering required serious arms and chest, the shifting demanded a strong shoulder, the brakes were amazing, provided you could leg press over 400lbs. with your right and the clutch was stout enough that I used to take it out of gear at stop lights (and at the time I could stack the leg press at our HS, which went to 1200lbs.).
It would lay rubber from a start in second and a quick shift to third kept the smoke show going, handling was actually pretty spectacular, all things considered and I made some impressive time on mountain roads here in VT with it, a$$ hanging in corners and tires wailing :D

Sadly, no pictures of it are in my possession...

this is close though:
