I've had 2 Navajas since they were new. Just pulled one out of the safe and after fidgeting with it for a minute it stopped ratcheting.

Other one is still going strong after a half hour of cycling.

Is the ratcheting device warrantied? I haven't had it apart, or even used it for that matter.

If I recall correctly, weren’t the noise creating springs notoriously flimsy?

I remember lots of complaints about these. At this point they probably don't have the parts to fix it anymore?

A phone call to Spyderco would probably tell the tale. Most of the noisemakers crapped out pretty quickly, and I seem to recall they stopped repairing them early on since the repairs didn't last either. It isn't part of the locking mechanism and doesn't affect the function of the knife, it's just a spring that makes a noise.
