Pistol Grip Knives?

I have seen assorted knives made with pistol grip style handles, made of different materials such as wood, plastic, and others, with varied blade shapes and steel types.

What are your opinions of these knives, everyone, I mean, of pistol grip knives in general? Would you consider it a reasonable and utilitarian handle shape or would it have too many limits in how it is held and used?

A related one: Push knives and push daggers. Some companies have made these for both defense/offensive use and also for hunting and skinning when out in the field.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Spyderco Caspian a pistol grip knife??

I think in the case of the Caspian, I think you could get a terrific grip on it!

Are we talking about "push knives" that are in a T shape, or literally in an L shape like a handgun? I have seen knives with extreme negative angles to the blade, not quite 90 degrees but to the point where you're almost holding the knife in a similar grip as a pistol and you would "aim" it in a similar fashion. The ones I have seen this way were geared towards self defense so I didn't really pay much attention since I'm not really into that sort of thing.

I was about to mention the Colt. There was a review on BF some time ago. 440C blade IIRC.
