Thank you guys! About six months ago I was speaking with Phil Wilson about a knife he was making for me and he made a nice comment about my writing and suggested that I submit something to the magazine. I had a good time putting the article together and it felt nice when they emailed me back and said they'd like to use it. So thanks Blade. And thanks Phil for the idea and the encouragement and thanks to all you guys for the knife education that even gave me enough knowledge to write anything in the fist place. Oh yeah, and thank you Spyderco for the great subject matter!! :)

I have an online subscription to Blade and they send me an email notification every month when the digital version is available. The digital version is nicely produced and reads well on my iPad or computer. Not sure if you can buy single copies or not. Out of curiosity, does anyone know where I could pick up a hard copy in the U.S.? I am visiting a friend in Utah next week and would like to see an actual magazine. Does Wal Mart carry Blade? Anyone know?

Also, congrats to Jim Ankerson on the article! Does anyone have information on that? He told me he had something coming out but I can't remember the exact magazine/issue. Jim, please post the details if you see this so we can get our hands on that.

It's Knives Illustrated, had one last issue (March/April) and also the current issue (May/June). :)

Lance, as far as I know, you should be able to pick up a BLADE magazine at places like Barnes & Nobel, Borders, etc. I've looked at my local Wal-Mart before, but I think they only carried Tactical Knives (back when they were in print) and KNIVES magazine. Might be worth a try, though. Some stores may vary on what they carry. By the way, IIRC, I think Jim's article in BLADE was an issue or two ago. I'll have to double check, but it might have been May or June 2015. (Congrats to Jim as well! )

I signed up for a year, digital subscription, so I could read this article. Hopefully you get some exposure. I'm sure this article has sold or will sell some Pacific Salt's.

I like how all the quotes say "-THE AUTHOR". There is an interesting selection of quotes.


I once saw you say that Super Blue and Ultra Fine rods are good for parlor tricks with your friends. I find H1 and Ultra Fine rods makes an impressive edge.
