Got the Tatanka...what a beast!

The Tatanka arrived two days ago, just got time to play with it a little.

Man, what a chunk of knife this is.
"The Beast" would have been a fitting name:

And yes, thats a full size KABAR!

Extremly sharp OOB, fine edge, perfect fit and finish, daddy like! :-)

Surprisingly it carries very easy in the front pocket of my trusty TacLite pros, so now problem here...

Opening the blade takes a little getting used to, as the closing tension is quite high. Wrist flicking aint working for me, neither does the "Spyder-Drop".
But thumb-opening is no problem at all.

I´m sure this big boys will gather a following!

Spyder-Crew:
Well done!!!

Wow, that is a serious folder! I am certainly tempted by this model.

How are the ergos? Does it carry like a sub-giant folder in pocket?

It carries well. Drops low in the pocket so the Spyder bump is out of the way when digging for anything.
I already posted this picture somewhere around here but since this is a Tatanka thread...here's my customized "Tank" and its S110V Native 5 partner.
Need to get some new pictures as soon as thing start greening up around here.

I second that, it rides very "small" in the pocket. Not nearly as bulgy as it appears.

Ergos are great, choke up, index-finger in choil, sabre, reverse, all very comfy and easy to move. It feels astonishingly light in hand.

But it IS a serious piece of steel, make no mistake about it!

I got one the other day. Fit and finish on mine is Great.....Almost on the level of the Taiwan models. My particular knife is super smooth on opening, and closing. Be prepared to change your closing style though, because one slip up may result in a nasty cut or worse. Ergos are great for my large hands choked up with my index finger in the choil as I grip most of my knives if given the option.I like it so much in fact that I may get a second to have as back up, or maybe we can get a sprint run in one of the Japanese super steels, and a different color G10.
This knife is truly a home run for those of us that like larger knives, and are legally able to carry a knife this large .

Nice pics, Thehunt. What type of shorts are those? I'm always on the look-out for a sturdy pair of shorts to carry my knives. :)

@Spydernut:
Those are the 5.11 Taclite Pros, in TDU Green, but no shorts this time of year :-)

I like the blade style on it, looks good. :)

Longer than I can legally carry though.

Maybe a belt sheath would have been a nice option or included?

Thanks man. :) I normally have to wear cotton-based shorts when carrying my heavier knives (such as the Lionspy, Techno, Rubicon, etc.) in the summer. I just picked up a pair of Prana stretch zion shorts and they seem fairly sturdy without being too heavy/bulky. I'll give them a try here in a few months once it warms up. I agree--it's waaaaaaay to chilly to wear shorts this time of year. :o :D

Can the Tatanka be thumb or Spydy flicked?

Does a Spydy drop work on this beautiful monster?

Also, where did you get those cool scales from?

Cheers, BN.

I played with a tatanka a few times. I would not call it a beast it does not feel like a tank compared to the original manix or the chinook series. But i would call it gigantic. I would love to see the design shrunk to the size of a para2 orso. :)

Deep carry clip works well.
