New byrds

We had four new byrds at the A'Dam meet Sunday. (showed 3).

One was the new byrd Raven 2 made with Carpenter's CTS-BD 1. #2 was the new Crow 2 also with BD 1. Both have been highly refined. It's taken a while but the maker (a knife afi himself), has made significant improvements to the quality of the pieces and we also made a large number of refinements to the design. The best Raven and Crow yet.

#3 and 4 were Titanium Cara Cara and Meadowlark models. Very impressive. We're sure they will be appreciated.

That sounds pretty sweet. I'll be watching for them.

Will we get to see any of these in Wouter's pictures?

Sounds good Sal, I'm anxious to see the Raven and Crow. Are we getting close?

We made one last mod to the clip, it was too stiff. Now they're in production. I would hope to see them by summer.

Hey Sal, are the new clips more of the typical Spyderco style, as in solid without the slit down the center?

This sounds like some nice upgrades. The Ti./CTS BD1 is one that I'd be interested in. I already have 4 or 5 Cara Cara's and have gifted several more. I use them around the house quite a bit and keep them in several locations including what was the dog walking jacket.

I really like large, tough lockbacks and feel comfortable with the design.

Love the choil on the Cara Cara's, Endura with some extra ergo's IMO.
I'll definately take a look into the Ti version :D
Only birds I've got are 3 Cara Cara's and a Raven, but I still love using them!

I'm going to try get a new byrd. I hate the steel used in the current byrds.

I'm a working man and I use my knives hard.

Hopefully these new byrds will hold a nice edge like the bd1 manix 2 lwt I've been using.

Awesome.

I'm in need of a new work knife.

Something smaller than my normal blades.

This might be just what I need.

I'm excited.

The steels are very similar. So similar that you shouldn't be able to notice much/any real difference in use or sharpening. The difference is American steel vs Chinese. I actually like 8Cr as a working steel. Holds a fair edge and sharpens easily.

Yeah I don't know why but I just can't seem to get a edge on 8cr.
