I can't figure out how to do it.
I am currently registered with a dead email so I can't use that one as "current"

Just post the URL to change email and I'll do it.

I have a password in my records but it does not work for changing anything.

Have you tried opening your User Control Panel, selecting the Profile tab, then selecting the Edit Account Settings option. I have no desire to change my email, but it says you can change it, as well as your user name and password, from there as long as you're logged in and know your current password.
