TESTING thread.

#1

Post by Donut »

I am creating this thread so we can post to test things, like signatures and avatars.

It appears the signatures are off by default, we'll see if I can turn it on in one try. I see a check box below this post.

It looks like to turn on Signatures by default you have to go

1. User Control Panel (top left under the logo)
2. Board Preferences (at the top)
3. Edit Posting Defaults (on the left under the row containing "Board Preferences")
4. Attach my signature by default: Yes ( A circle selection next to Yes. )

Also notice the new format has tighter restrictions on character count for signatures. Had to shorten mine :D

I wonder if you could save characters on your image with tinypic.

I believe that some forums think being able to "img" to other sites is a security risk.

Based on my own sig line, I suspect that characters inside {URL} and {IMG} tags don't count against the 255 character limit.

And it only allows 3 URL links. Had to delete a couple from mine. :o

Also, FWIW, just noticed that, while there's no "multi-quote feature, if you're quoting one post and hit the quote button on another, the second quote will be added to your editor.

Can someone tell me how to, if it's possible, to post a video like before without the URL link?

Testing new coding to embed YouTube and Google videos. ;) See new buttons in the editor.

Not quite as easy to use as the old system where you just copied and pasted the entire URL, so it's probably going to be a bit more of a challenge for members without at least a bit of geek-fu :p but it works. Same is true for a few other things as well, (EXAMPLE: align= needs the user to input left, right, or center manually, font= requires you to supply a font name).

Test for sig.

Also, how do I embed a You Tube vid with the button in the editor since directly pasting the embed code no longer works?

Use the bit after the "v=" in between what the button posts to your reply window. I'll include the raw link, and embed it as an example.

This was what I was told and it has worked some of the time, but only seems to work some of the time so don't hold me to it...I've tried it today and it doesn't seem to work.

No problem...though as in my above example it only seems to work some of the time, so don't be surprised if it doesn't work some of the time. I'll post back with an update if I can figure out why that is.
