As much love as I have for the Para 2 I'm not sure it is the best choice for bear hunting RS.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

AUS-8, plain-edged Dragonfly with integrated FRN clip.

I'm babying the clip so it hopefully won't snap off. Started carrying it today actually, after years of ownership. Normally it's a 2-inched bladed Gerber LST in my pocket. Wanted to switch things up a bit. Bought a cream-cheese bagel very early in the morning. Guy forgot to cut it in half. My little Gerber could have done the job. But it would have been a bit messy. The Dragonfly made things much easier. Also, no cream cheese inside the action.

I never had a doubt that dark green para can be a substitute for a bear spray. Actually, not only para, but any Spyderco with dark green scales :)
Still I would pack bear spray as well, just in case :D

You don't need a Spydie or even bear spray for that matter...just some basic martial arts and a distraction.

Thanks for the nice comments and hilarious video guys! Thankfully I only came across one bear (black bear) this trip, a little guy happily eating berries on the side of the road. I didn't grab a good enough pic to post but maybe the 100 or so other tourists causing a major traffic jam in that area did ;)!
