C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Reviving an old thread, sorry. Here's my number 1641, it's been sitting around in my knife box for so long that I sort of forgot about it. Decided to do some research, and this thread has been very helpful. Looking at recent values of these, I'm glad I've never shoved it in my pocket with my massive clump of keys.
Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Oatmeal, thanks a lot for the contribution. That's a beautiful example you got there. I shall add it to the list. I thought I would have more entries by now--where did all these gems go? Makes you wonder if a lot of them ended up with people who have no idea what they are...

And here's mine. Can't recall any number on it, but i will have a look later, unfortunately that part of the blade is over exposed in the picture..
There's no bug on the clip anyway, that i remember off the top of my head.

Hey, Larry. Thanks for showing off your baby.
It would be great if you could get us the number when you get a chance so I can add it to the spreadsheet. From what I have so far, the ones with "Klotzli" on the blade seem to be rarer than those without. When you get the number, could you also let us know if those are the matte or polished scales--I can't tell from the picture? Thanks again, and beautiful knife you got here.

Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Hey, Richierich. Thanks for the contribution. Nice picture--those polished scales sure do pop.
When you get a moment, can you give us a pic of the clip side or describe the clip? There are apparently 3 variations of engraving on the clips: engraving right side up (with blade open, edge down), engraving upside down, and right side up engraving with the Spyderco bug (like on #1641 above).
Again, I think this and the World Trace Center D'Allara are the only Spydercos where every one was numbered so you can track variations. I have never heard of variations on the WTC knife, but maybe that is a project for someone else. :-)

Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Hey, Larry. You mentioned in your post above that your #098 scales are polished, but they look like matte ones in the pics you put up. The polished ones look like Richierich's #1743 above--they are totally smooth and you can literally see your reflection in them.
Would it be too much trouble to have you look at your specimen again? If yours are matte, could you edit your post above?
Thanks, man.

Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Larry: <sheepishly> I am suitably convinced. Nice pic with the other CF walker, BTW. I should have bought two of those when they came out. In the other thread going about what knife you wish Spyderco would build, I said a new Walker like that CF one but with the titanium scales from the Lum Chinese folder run and Superblue steel. I would buy two of those and not make the same mistake. :-)
RichieRich: Bug, and engraving right-side up. Got it.
Thank you both for the pics and Happy New Year!

Are there any that had no markings on the blade?

Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Also just noticed another variation I haven't been keeping track of: The engraving on the blade of #434 and #1675 (both on Ebay now from the same seller) is slightly different. The "Swiss Made ATS-34" is smaller inside the Spyderco/Walker circle on #434. I wish I would have saved pictures of all of these...
Re: C22 Walker/Klotzli Genome Project
Catching up here with a couple of old Ebay sales...
