Massad Ayoob on bladeforums

Interesting qote from bladeforums:
Massad Ayoob wrote:For what it's worth, I'd like to see it with the G10 handle too. It was what I had originally designed into the C60, but I have a sense that with so many other G10 handled Spydercos coming out at about that time, a marketing decision was made to go to the different style.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

I'd like to see a sprint run with G10 (or maybe carbon fiber?) handles, especially if it was drilled for a tip-up ambi clip.

I said it over there and i will say it here; a new Massad Ayoob would be an excellent candidate for the Wave feature !
With G10 handles and tip-up carry ofcourse,

I have to agree, I really liked mine. I'm still kicking myself for trading it away. :spyder:

Colored G10 handles (Tan, or Dodo blue) with four-way clip mounting. No special steel needed, unless you want to 'test' something new. :D

I dislike the Ayoob for its slippery handles, and that icepick thingy Mr. Ayoob designed for Masters of Defense; I expected a slicer so I was disappointed with that design. A run of G10 handled with 4-way clip mounting Ayoobs would get my attention again.

Thanks Kristi :)

Much as I'd like to see this, being a lefty, the lack of an ambi clip would be a dealbreaker for me. Being primarily an SD knife, I think right handers would also appreciate the option of carrying it weak-side.

A full flat grind would be really nice.

I would also like it with a g-10 handle and ambidextrous clip. Thanks Kristi. :D :spyder:

I like the sharp point. But why is the blade down at such an angle? It looks like a very nice knife. I would like one. Is this model made in Golden Colorado?

ANY Ayoob sprint run I am down for...

G-10 would be nice, Peel Ply CF, heck even tissue paper for handles! ;)

I do think you have a pent up market for a sprint run of any kind.

The one I have has very good gription to it. I have heard this complaint before so after receiving mine the other day the first thing I did was check the grip factor and it was good! The one I have is brand new so maybe as they get older and more used they get slick. I don't know.

Jacks - The reason for the grip/blade angle is so the blade is in a straight line with your hand.

I like the forward blade concept, I was just never that enthralled with the knife itself. Maybe it's something with the blade profile, maybe if it was a bit fatter or leaf shaped, I'd probably enjoy the way it looks better. That being said, I've never used or held one before, and maybe my opinion would change greatly if I did.

It's a great knife guys, but I agree it needs g-10. The original was a little slick. :spyder: But I am ready for a sprint run of any kind for this knife.

Material-wise:
G10 and CPM S30V (ideally ZDP 189, but not much chance of that happening)

Minor changes:
4-way carry
Slightly deeper choils?
Wave

Major changes (and I mean things that will require a fair bit of redesigning):
Comp lock
A handle/blade change like the one on Dialex's Tarantula (see below) for an even more secure grip
Wharncliffe blade (now we're really changing things)

Image

But still, I'd be happy with a rerun as it is.

A couple PE to illustrate size vs. an endura and negative angle...
