I’m very tempted by that Spyderco mystery box but I went a little too crazy at the seconds sale and just can’t justify it right now. Still though, I’m very tempted!

Spyderco Mystery Box #1 at DLT.

$462.50 value for $259.99

Wish I knew what was in it. It’s 44% off MSRP!

Just got the email a while ago. Curious, but not sure if it would be a deal for me . I will enjoy seeing somebody take the plunge . Makes me wonder if all boxes the same or each one different? Dan

No free Spyderco Handkerchief for the Mystery Boxes. It does add the free handkerchief for other Spyderco purchases over $150.

I’m tempted, because I generally love DLT’s exclusives. But, I don’t want to take a chance of getting a bunch of knives that don’t sell well and they are trying to get rid of.

I wish they could tell us if it is a new exclusive, and not random stuff like a Pochi and Squeak.

That's suspiciously exactly the percent off every store is selling their Spydies at for this weekend's sales.

MAP is normally 70%, and almost everyone is giving an extra 20% off: .7 * .8 = .56 of MSRP, i.e., 44% off MSRP

I bet if you find a set of Spydercos with a MSRP adding up to $462.50 you would find that's what is in the box.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. This is what mystery boxes are for.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Cutlery shoppe has a lot of Spydies at a nice discount. The Murray Carter knives are steeply discounted. I just got the Superblue 10 inch gyuto for over $100 off.

I hate to be that guy but it doesn't take much to equal $462.50 in MSRP these days. That could be 2 knives and a coffee mug or 5 Tenaciouseseses.

Could be but it also says exclusive mystery box. They do have some exclusives still in stock. Could have one exclusive pm2 or para3 with some fillers.

It may just be me but so far looking at what is available at dealers a lot of desirable models are out of stock . If one waits I think with. Christmas coming until shipping cut off more models may appear but no guarantee they will be this deeply discounted. Toss of the coin . The DLT is rather enticing but since I do a lot of orders from them , my luck would be another of the same . I guess I would rather have control of my purchase. I’m not a big steel nerd but want something I don’t already have to add to my meager variety. MG2

That is a little tempting. I could almost go for the Funayuki, but I think it is a tad small for my needs, and I like the Bocho Bunka, but I'm not sure I want to spend $200 on it still. I'm thinking about it though.
