Intro and closing credits.
I was really into this show during its first two or three seasons. After that, I felt it got stale and had run its course (pun intended).

Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
As a 9–11 year-old kid in the late 90's I used to watch Speed Racer and Jonny Quest every night and it wasn't until many years later that I realized they were actually re-runs, LOL!
This thread is great, thanks Jim!

Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
Growing up, westerns ruled the TV airwaves. Shows like Rawhide, Gun Smoke, Wagon Train, Maverick, Wyatt Earp, Cheyenne, Wanted: Dead or Alive, etc. Have Gun-Will Travel was one of my favorites.
Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
I think I've seen every episode of the 3 Stooges ever made. And with all of the third guys too i.e. Curly, Joe, Shemp. Back in the days where there was no "political correctness".Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 9:37 amMe too ! I have to add the Three Stooges which at times remind me of some crazy discussions in General that I laugh at on various subjects. Dan
Oh speaking of Hanna-Barbera don't forget "Johnny Quest"
That was back in the days when cartoons were really funny.
Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
Jim I think I heard the other day that all 3 of the Mod Squad members were all dead now. But that show originated back in the late 60s so I guess that's not unusual.
Now the best cop show I ever remember watching was MIAMI VICE!!! I've been watching Youtube videos of Miami Vice this past month and that show was way ahead of it's time IMO. I can't believe all the Rock Stars that were on that show. I still have the hots for Sandra Santiago (Gina). Don Johnson was great in that show along with Edward James Olmos and Phillip Michael Thomas.
Re: Nearly-Forgotten TV Shows, Themes, and Ads
I'm glad you are enjoying it, Airlsee!
Actually, Jonny Quest was, and still is, my favorite cartoon show of all time! By the time I first saw it at age 4 in 1967, it was already in reruns, though of course, I didn't know it at the time. It originally aired from 1964 to 1965.
It was way ahead of its time...then again, maybe not; it regularly featured people (mostly bad guys) getting killed in various ways: Getting shot, crushed, blown up, killed by animals and monsters, etc. Even by the late '60s or early '70s, that type of violence wasn't allowed anymore on Saturday morning cartoons. It was only later, as an adult, that I realized how unique it was. The soundtrack music was great, too! I liked the show so much, I got the series DVD set when it was released.
Speed Racer was great, too. It was among the first Japanese animated series to air in the US.

skeeg11,
My dad was also a big fan of westerns, both movies and TV. He watched most or all of those. Here is another one whose theme I still remember:

Hi, Joe.
I think that Michael Cole is the only one of The Mod Squad who's still alive. I think he's in his 80s.
TBH, I only ever watched a few episodes of Miami Vice, mostly because by the early '80s, I wasn't watching much TV, and by early '85, I moved overseas for several years. I did think what I saw of it was pretty cool, though.

Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four
Both of these series were from 1967. They were also among my favorites. They're where I first heard of Marvel Comics characters. I was only 4 years old, but I still remember what time they aired on Saturday mornings. Spider-Man came on at 9:00, followed by Journey to the Center of the Earth (posted earlier) at 9:30, then The Fantastic Four at 10:00. Of course, there were other cartoons before and after these...

Fantastic Voyage (1968 series), intro and closing credits
Another one by Filmation, which was Hanna-Barbera's strongest rival company in making Saturday morning cartoons, back when Saturday morning cartoons meant something.
The closing credits used to give me the creeps. The Voyager and the computers are all deserted, and the music sounds like it's haunted.

I never liked clowns and never watched clown shows, though I had known about them. They didn't creep me out so much as I thought they looked stupid, and that they probably stank.
I recall back in 2nd grade, some kids were talking about the infamous Bozo "cram it, clown" incident. The version I heard was that a kid on the Bozo show failed to win a prize, and he dropped an F-bomb on live TV. Then Bozo told him, "That's a Bozo no-no." To which the kid replied, "Cram it, clown!" Googling it now, it appears there were a few different versions of the story, but supposedly, it was only an urban legend and didn't really happen. Or maybe it did, I don't know...
