Hey, everyone: I'm bumping this back up for an update. We've recently added the C186TIP - Slysz Bowie to the list of discontinued items for 2018. I've edited my original post accordingly but I didn't want it to get overlooked.

Is the Techno next?

Sal told me at Blade that they'd already be making the Techno 2 based on Slysz's Mouse 2 except that the Techno continues to sell well. I'd bet on seeing the Techno 2 in the '18 catalog, and the Techno discontinued this time next year.

The only knife I own a backup of is the GB1. The Bowie will be the second.

Spyderco has only so much factory capacity, I’m sure they make their choices carefully.

They will also need to push over new high end flagship, I understand the decision:I guess the bowie sells well but they cannot have new model that are very similar in the destination market, it will kill The new product.

Happy to see new models. But now my expecations went up!

To be honest i can't really understand the lamentation of models to be discontinued? Simply get one now, or two and move on :)
The ones i lament the most are really old and disco'd donkeys age ago, but the newer ones are still avaliable pretty easily.
