Thank you Brian,
I read, that H1 after some use is reaching HRc62 for PE and HRc65 for SE. Does this improve edge retention? Or you would consider H1 beneficial to use only around water?

hi Roman,
I heard the same Rockwell #'s for serrated H-1, but I still feel VG-10 teeth are more wear resistant than H-1 teeth....albeit an imperfect comparison b/w my SE Temperance vs. my SE Pacific Salt..... sawing down saplings in the yard chipped one of my P.Salt's teeth , wheras the Temperance's serrations are intact still (even though I've used the Temperance twice as much).....
I recall reading a discussion about Vanadium carbides(?) in the steel matrix making the wear resistance much more than implied by the Rockwell # alone in the case of VG-10.....
So I guess for marine conditions I would choose H-1 but given a choice in freshwater uses/etc. I'd prefer VG-10 for spyderedges....

3.5" VG10 blade, full flat grind, finger choil and looks good

BH49,
Thank you for starting using your camera and doing it so nicely!
Great pictures! I can finally see your EDCs "up-close".
Now I need to buy R2

Hi Roman,

As per comments above, all true !

My Salt I sees almost permanent pocket time wherever I go, coupled with another blade depending on what I am doing or where I am going. If anywhere near beach/ water I will take Salt I only. If anywhere else I will takeSalt I plus a 'side dish' :p I like the fact that I can abuse the H1 blade cutting apples/ sandwiches etc... and the juices, acidity and foodstuff will not ruin my blade jus because I am in the middle of nowhere and cannot clean it properly.

With my only light usage of my blades I find the H1 holds its edge fairly well. Although seemingly not as good as VG10 (in my newbie opinion)

Great followup shots of your Kopa, Persian and Native BTW..... they are getting better by the day and tempting me to be foolish with my credit card :)

Cheers bro

Heheh Brian, That is a HUGE blade buddy !!! Make sure you don't scare folks away with that one :p

Actually, that is my permanent carry clipped onto my belt clip and car keys. Great for opening new packages with Spydie products in them :) The SE really makes short work of tape, boxes, packaging etc... (fingers too !!!)

Cheers

Yeah Dan, the Ladybug3 wouldn't be my first choice for making a Vegemite Sandwich..... :p
I also prefer the SE on this sized knife.... maximum effective edge... :)

I've been carrying this non- :spyder:  lately.... the Kershaw NRG2 (small) .... while the styling is not for everyone, the grippy Trac tec inserts complement the G10 nicely, the "pseunetic flipper" is much much easier to open the blade vs. my Junkyard Dog 1, and is rather addictive ... :p
The linerlock is rock solid as is the one on my Junkyard Dog 2.... the hollow ground edge is very keen out the box....
Here are some pix with my Ladybug3 .... :)

well, I think this in not EDC, but in house carry. IHC (?) :D

Just goofing around with the camera, these were on my writing-table:

my trusted Dodo, Waterman FP, CIAK leather-bound notebook.
