What Cell Phone Music or Radio App Do You Really Like?
I'm going to be out for 5 mile walks or doing yard work and wondered what cell phone app or designated player everyone is using for music or listening to radio shows streaming over the Internet these days.
It can be an app that plays files on the cell phone, or online, or an AM/FM cell phone app. The latter is probably better because I will not have to pay for each song and I'll hear new material. Anyone use iHeart Radio app still?
I'd prefer not to buy every musical piece. Am I S.o.L. as far as that goes? I used to be quite the audiophile, but this isn't necessarily about that and I gave up on that.

I "use" the Pandora "app" on my phone. Free "with" commercials.

I use spotify and tidal. Spotify mostly just driving around and at work, because most of my podcasts are there, and a massive music catalog. If im at home, tidal. Sound quality is just a fair amount better, through my speakers

Thank you!!!!
I'm whining....Tidal is $13/month. I'll eventually try it, but not immediately. Right now every cent goes to knives and health supplements. It probably has the best offering, and highest quality music so it is good to have it installed and I will use it.
Spotify and iHeart Radio are great. Still waiting for Pandora to log me in....and it works, Pandora is a good find here!!!

Spotify premium. Pay like 30 bucks a year with the family package. No ads and can download music at will.

I’m mostly using YouTube music to play music on my phone. I’ve used Tidal a lot in the past, all the way since it was called Wimp, and I’ll probably reactivate my subscription now that they’ve adjusted their pricing and moved away from MQA. The sound quality is noticeably better than Spotify and YouTube music, but it only matters at home where the room and playback equipment justifies the source quality. YouTube has some artists/songs that I haven’t found elsewhere, so there’s that. I’ll probably end up subscribing for both, at least for the time being.
For podcasts I’ve transitioned most of my listening to Spotify, but I still use Apple’s Podcasts for some podcasts. Used to have a handful of podcast apps to cover all my needs, but these two seem to cover all my bases these days.

It's excellent to post alternatives and the reasons why certain apps are better than others. The sites are targeting certain people.
So far Pandora and Spotify Premium sound excellent to me for walks and yard work.
One of these days I might get back into serious listening using a portable system with excellent headphones.

I pay for YouTube Premium (which is easily my favorite streaming service) and it includes YouTube Music for free, which isn't as good as Spotify or Tidal, but does the job for me. It's $14 per month, which I feel is actually under-priced given the amount of value that I get out of the service altogether.
