Swayback purchase
Swayback purchase
During the heavy discounts on 2023 disco models I picked up a swayback for under 200. I was always Intrigued with the knife just not the price to experiment.
I was pleasantly surprised. I found nothing but perfection. It cuts like a lightsabre, has pleasant lines, and is a joy to use. I use mine in food prep more than my spider chef. Had I known how incredibly good this knife handled ,it is/was worth its asking price of 330.
The only complaint I have is all the nit Pic reviews I read of this masterpiece that kept me from buying one earlier. It's really a darn shame such a nice piece got disc. Thanks spyderco and Sal for bringing such a nice gracefully, useful knife to market

I'm really tempted to get a second one at the current discounted price, but I doubt I'll ever wear out the one I already have.
Re: Swayback purchase
Now you just have to replace the ugly clip. I put the non-deep carry MXG clip on mine and it matches the handle much better and carries like a dream. Super clean and classy knife that cuts like a dream.

I love the lines on that knife. It is really a looker.

Re: Swayback purchase
I was just about to post on the Short List thread.
I think I am going to pick one up with the price drop. I had a chance to handle one and tis great (maybe a little difficult to open).
I did just get a Techno 2, any preferences?
I was also thinking Pochi, but that may be a little too much style over function.

What kind of pocket clip is that?

Re: Swayback purchase
That is the MXG Gear plain titanium shallow-carry clip. It is my favorite clip for several Spyderco knives, especially the Manix 2 and Manix 2 XL.
Edited to say I should try it on my Swayback, which is currently sporting an MXG Gear deep-carry clip.

Man, want this knife, have others on the way though, hopefully can grab one before they are gone, probably will as unlike all you lucky people in the US where it seems every dealer put everything on the new discontinued list on sale, none of the Canadian dealers did, still full price for everything lol like always

I went with this MXG clip

Re: Swayback purchase
I had 2 and sold one because I realized as well built as this thing is it is liable to outlive me so why have 2?
If you like a Wharncliffe blade this is a good one to get.
The CTS-XHP is allot like S30V but a bit less edge retention and a bit easier to sharpen corrosion resistance also quite good. The blade shape however is not entirely flat there is a bit of downward hook to it like a very subtle claw.
The stone wash finish is very nice indeed. All in all a very high quality product at a fair price point.

Re: Swayback purchase
I really like mine, but sold it because it was so hard to open, wish the cutout would have been just a tad bigger... oh well... but really an awesome knife.
Re: Swayback purchase
It would have made a great front flipper!
