Ikuchi

#1

Post by clinton1 »

Wanted to share some pics of my Ikuchi. Awesome "office duty" blade. Definitely not a hard use folder, but perfect for what I need most days. Dissapears in the pocket, super slicey, and I think it looks classy, stylish and different from the norm. I like that the Spydie Hole lines up with the handle holes when closed. Fidget friendly and very happy to have it in the collection! :bug-red-white

Does it flip open well?

Detent is a bit hard, but it is as smooth as glass once past that. Drops shut almost dangerously smooth. Have to be careful with the limited real estate on the scales!

i've noticed it's hard to open if i ouch too hard on the wheel. seems like it would pop open easier that way, but you have to find just the right pressure and it doesn't hurt as much.

i love the ikuchi. it's a wonderful design. i agree that it's great for office carry, but i bet it could hold its own in slightly harder use as well. i mean, i don't want to have to build a fire with it, but i bet i could.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

I so much wanted the Ikuchi to work for me but it didn't quite, and I returned it and got a Mantra 2 instead.

I hear good and bad about it, but I still think it will be my next knife purchase...if it's still around in a few months.

Funny, there's one on ebay that has 'flipper knife' in its title. To me it just looks like the perfect Spyderco for small trout. It would seem cruel to flip it in front of a dying fish, so I don't care if it flips or not.

One of my favorite Spyderco designs, and not nearly as delicate as one might assume. Underrated for sure...

I found the initial flipper break-in uncomfortable, but the Ikuchi is now a favourite.

Mantra 2 remains my most carried knife. Thought I would love the Ikuchi but can’t warm up to the front flipper action
