& now 15V vs MAXAMET - this can of worms is still open. From the Spyderco steel elements chart - 15V is much harder with 8.5 extra points of vanadium (plus Mo and more Si that harden the steel?), but Maxamet still has 15 points tungsten. Other key indicator shows 15V with more chromium for rust resistance. So both steels have insane edge retention, but which is tougher / less likely to chip?

Its not quite that simple. The chemistry of steel is very complex, adding or removing small parts of one element can drastically effect how it interfaces with another, along with temperatures.
