Until I found and entered the EDC rabbit hole some 5-6 years ago, I was a pretty frugal dude (for the times we live in), so even if things went a little out of hand in the beginning, I was fortunate enough to have a buffer that outlasted my exploration phase.

So while I haven’t even been close to your financial situation, I can relate to anyone struggling with health issues. While I’m generally very fit and healthy, I have a chronic diagnosis that can be quite crippling at times. And so I totally relate to the value of hobbies and being part of a positive community to get through hard times.
It may seem strange, but I seem to prefer anonymous forums for online community interactions. Maybe because I’m able to leave my issues behind for a while and just be me. Weirdly, I also find the few (anonymous) forums I take part in, to be friendlier and more knowledgeable than Facebook groups etc.

Glad you made it through the hard times and still enjoy your knife hobby!

Rule #1 I learned as a teen, don't ever buy more than one music album at a time or one of them will ultimately get neglected. Buy one at a time, consume it. Learn it, wring it out for all it's worth and then try the next one.

While we (on this forum) might be stretching it into ridiculous territory, you’re making a valid point.
For most categories of tools it makes sense to have a selection of sizes and variations to suit different tasks, which isn’t directly applicable to entertainment, art and jewelry (and it isn’t entirely unlikely that knives transcends into those areas for some people).
