I think it is very important to realize that Sal's recommendation is the one most likely to get made.

I would like to thank Sal for indulging us. I can't think of any other company which engages with its customers on this level. It's most impressive. Spyderco is a very cool company. It was awesome to actually get to meet Sal and Michael and Ed at Bladeshow. They're all that cool in person too.

I have a UKPK salt (just for a month or two) and I'm very fond of it. I carry and use it a lot. It weighs nothing.
I have 2 SPY27 knives, a Native 5 and a Para 3. I really like that steel.

I would be in on the SPY27 (or Magnacut) UKPK. I am iffy on the lil native slipit. I'm way more interested in the UKPK. I have no issue with either UKPK blade shape. I would not care if the UKPK was FRN or G-10. I'm in either way.

TBH, I am also interested in Magnacut but am more interested in SPY27 in general.

I kinda suspect (maybe wrong) that the Yellow salt UKPK probably ends up with Magnacut as the blade steel someday in the future. The yellow part numbers are freed up now that all the LC200N ones are green.

i wouldn't mind a ti scale lil native slipit. something nice and classy available for everyone.
Titanium scales ? That'd be fantastic but too expensive I'm afraid.

I'm for the UKPK, obviously, but the Lil Native Slipit could be interesting if it were thin behind the edge so it would be a good slicer. I actually like the size of the LN, but the UKPK is a much better slicer and is very light weight.

  1. UKPK SLIPIT SPY27 FRN
  2. UKPK SLIPIT MagnaCut FRN
  3. UKPK SLIPIT SPY27 G-10
  4. UKPK SLIPIT MagnaCut G-10
  5. Lil’ Native SLIPIT SPY27 FRN
  6. Lil’ Native SLIPIT MagnaCut FRN
  7. Lil’ Native SLIPIT SPY27 G-10
  8. Lil’ Native SLIPIT MagnaCut G-10

Hey Jim,

I agree. Like Ladybug, I always seem to lean towards a UKPK. Large enough to be functional for most tasks. It serves more audiences, especially overseas. Legal in most jurisdictions.

sal

Just out of curiosity, are the Manbug/Ladybug/Jester not legal in many places because they are locking, even with their minute size?

They are in Germany fr0m what I know. One-hand opening + locking = no go.

I think Sal specifically mentioned Spy27 for a reason.

Absolutely ridiculous if a Jester is banned anywhere in the world. :confounded

I carry one quite often and it's a very convenient model to carry and use. Especially the light-weight. If anyone hasn't actually carried and used one, it might surprise? I always travel with one.

I wonder if there would be any interest in an UK or the new Lil' Native Slipit? CPM-SPY27, Cobalt Blue scales, 2023 forum knife engraved on the back-spacer spring?

sal

Wow, I completely missed this post, almost exactly what I said! This would be awesome, maybe even a cobalt colored micarta would be cool. DLC might even entice some as well.

Sal, I feel y’all could even do a pre order for this and maybe make a few extra for the newcomers.

Ummm I want to change my answer. Wild over the idea of a UKPK SPY27 and Cobalt Blue. But what a great opportunity to unveil a Wharnie version!

I tend to stay in the background for the Forum Knife discussions but a SPY 27 UKPK really appeals to me.

I think either would be nice, but my preference would go to the UKPK. Is wharncliffe an option?

Lil native slipit in spy27 with blue scales would definitely interest me. I especially like the idea of the engraving on the back spacer spring.

I’m not a slip joint fan, but I’d buy that. I think it has good attributes and I could always use a slip joint for travels.
