New work knife. Scored it for under $50. Cleaned it out, lubed the pivot, tightened all the hardware and gave it a quick edge using diamond rods at 40 degrees.
The tip is gonna need some work but the action is super smooth, great lock up, spotless clip, fresh grippy scales and factory edge. Not bad for $47!

I mowed earlier today. I put down fertilizer early last month, so it's growing fast now. Had the Native in pocket, too.

Thanks for the reminder to give my Native Salt some love! It's an excellent version of the Native.PeaceInOurTime wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 8:07 pm

I refuse to fertilize my lawn. I hate mowing and maintaining a yard. Last year it was hot and dry and my grass pretty much died in July, and I rejoiced greatly.

Haha yeah, my lawn isn't great, but it's decent. I'd hate to lose what I have. Sometimes I hate putting in the work, but a fresh cut and full lawn is rewarding, much more enjoyable to play with my kids on. Plus, you can't beat that fresh cut grass smell!

Very nice! So the pacific salt looks just like the Endura Blade?! Is it the endura? I’m interested to see how often you have to re sharpen that H1vivi wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 3:09 pm

Hi Josh,
I am not Vivi (obviously ), but just for your info:
- The Pac Salt basically HAS an Endura blade, just with a larger opening hole (this also makes the blade a tad taller and the thumb ramp a bit steeper) and more "spine drop" towards the tip, so more "sheepsfooty" (this makes the tip obviously less pointy but more robust)
- While the sabre grind Endura versions come in "true" sabre grind, the H1 Pac Salt comes in hollow sabre grind - which I like a lot better (the LC 200N Pac Salts come in ffg, like, well, the ffg Enduras do)
- The Pac Salt in Vivis pic is a Pac Salt 1 (now discontinued) - it has the "old" Endura (3..) handle shape, while the current Pac Salt 2 has the Endura 4 handle shape (but no liners, differently to the Endura)
- About sharpening: Well, on this one Vivi is much more competent than I am.
Just let me say that his coarse "Vivi edges" work very well too in my basic versions of them (in my case: Just using the (pretty coarse) CBN rods on the sharpmaker)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
