Scored a Parata for $84 off retail. This is perfect because I've been curious about this knife/lock for a while but not curious enough to spend $190. Also got a Native Maxamet.

I know A LOT of people have been on the fence about the Shaman but didn't want to spend $200 on something they may not like. I hope some of those people were able to score that Shaman for under $100 while it was available!
I was tempted by that.

Currently trying to order a dlc para 2. for that price ill make a nostalgia purchase :p

Nothing in this batch for me. Holding fast for Seki models.

I lied. Couldn't resist the urge to place order #2. S110V Millie and H1 PE Pac Salt 2 on the way in addition to order #1's DLC Camo Millie and DLC Black Millie.

On a roll! :D

Spyderco's website is making DLT's website look like good

And the point is...?

DLT's site was built to handle huge loads of ecommerce traffic. Over several years. And yet they still experience crashes.

Spyderco's was never meant to handle the traffic that DLT and the other knife retail sites have. The online seconds sale was only conceived a month ago due to COVID. The mere fact that we have this right now is just nothing short of a miracle being pulled of by Spyderco's staff.

I'd love to just read about people excited that they got such and such knife today, instead of a bunch of complaining. That would be refreshing!

Remember that scene in the movie "Das Boot" when the depth charges were dropping all around? Yeah, that's Spyderco's IT team right now.

It was easier buying a Crucarta Shaman than it is to even load a page for this sale. You can all complain about the complainers all you want but this forum has always welcomed criticism as long as it is respectful. I personally think that they should have stopped the sale as soon as the servers started crashing and postpone it until they were equipped to handle a sale like this. We can all thank Spyderco for their effort and all that but that doesn’t change the fact that this ain’t going terribly well.

Their current shopping cart software is not designed for this kind if bursty high volume sales. I don't think it was meant to scale for this kind of sale.

If it going well for Spyderco then good and I am genuinely happy about that but I can’t be the only one having issues.

I have issues getting the site to load on my phone. For whatever reason, it loads fine on my desktop PC (Macbook running Google Chrome). The other thing about my desktop setup is that I logged in before the sale started and bookmarked the page, so not sure if that makes any difference somehow. On my browser, when the page initially times out, if I just leave it going until the little spinning icon on the browser tab stops spinning, it eventually loads.

All that said, I haven't seen anything that I just *had* to buy yet, so murphy's law or whatever is likely at play as to why it's working for me so far...

All of us are having issues. I don't really care, because these are all just toys, and not really something I need. If I don't get it, who cares? Means I've saved myself some money.

You aren't.

I had to remind myself that this is an inventory reduction sale.... I don't like going to liquidation sales or black friday or any other hurry up and find a deal before they are gone events...

It was nice to load the website last night and buy the bandanas and the t shirt I truly wanted instead of fighting the digital gods to get my order in for something I'm not sure I even really want. When we are able to go in person I look forward to shopping the seconds sale. But I agree this is a bit of a bummer and I'm sure they wish they had an answer to the madness.

This reminds me of registering for classes or trying to get season football tickets as an Auburn student in the early days of colleges transitioning to online

Agreed on all counts. I'm personally finding it very easy to avoid spending much in this sale.

Edited to add that I let some stuff sit in my cart and they sold out while I was still pondering. I just saved $50!

Im upset this go round. An hour and 10 minutes and ended up with nothing. Everytime I went to check out, something in my cart was sold out. This would have been fine but you cant just proceed with the checkout, you have to update your cart which takes forever.

I got caught in an update cart while other items sold out cycle.
