Don't have these two anymore, but what a pair! My first two Spydercos.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Is that at the J&S Surplus and Outdoor Store? They have a pretty good Spyderco selection.kennethsime wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 9:59 amDon't have these two anymore, but what a pair! My first two Spydercos.
Independent of the specific models, these two have been my ideal pair of folders on those days that I have two on me,

Nope, Kelley's Cutlery in Modesto, about 10 years ago. They carry more Benchmade than Spydercos, but really nice folks.

And my current favorites. The Rescue is the same as the one in the previous photo, the Amalgam is new. Both knives were released 20 years apart; the Amalgam in 2018, the Rescue in 1998 (as far as I can tell).
When I bought the Rescue it was brand-new in its box. The foam padding had a knife-shaped indentation perfectly molded to it. It had sat there, untouched, for about 20 years, just waiting for someone to come along, buy it, and start using it. I feel very lucky that that someone was me. You can't see it in the photo, but the pocket clip is stamped with "US PATENT 4347665 / FOREIGN PATS PEND / OTHER PAT. PEND.", because back in 1998 when it was produced, Spyderco still had a patent on the concept of putting a pocket clip on a knife. It's my coolest knife, and an awesome serrated cutting tool for all kinds of tasks.
The Amalgam I purchased early this year, and it quickly became my main EDC. It's a pretty awesome knife and I have more thoughts on it. Will have to take some time to organize them and write them up here.
They're both my favorites. It's pretty hard to imagine encountering a knife I like more than I like these. But that's what I thought when I carried that pair of blackout Natives; who knows what wonders Spyderco's next catalog will bring? Still, I'm enjoying the heck out of these, and love them a lot. :) :spyder:

Today, it’s been these two. Sure would like to see a Sprint on either (or both!)
