If you like 13C26/AEB-L then I think you would really like 14C28N. It takes an extremely sharp thin edge and is not chippy. It will hold that sharpness longer than S30V, but then S30V will keep a working edge longer and 14C28N will lose its working edge faster (at least this has been my experience).

Found this handy chart on the BU site:

The color coding is for inventory tracking, those are BU’s color codes for their steels.

^^ yeah, usually the end of the stock is marked with the appropriate colors for quick identification as steel just looks like steel and you can't tell what's what just by looking at it.

I do kind of want to make a flag with all the codes for my favorite steels now so I can "fly the colors." :D

I would vote for a new urban in a new steel - Bohler s390. Make it a true mule.
m390 would make me happy as well, just not a new steel.
14C28 would actually match (my) use of the urban pretty well - light use, long retention of that sharp edge at the expense of a working edge that lasts forever. I really like Sandvik 13c26 and 14c28.

Thanks a lot...now I want a super-steel Urban even more. ;)

I'd be very interested in trying out the Sandvik steels in Urban sprints. The "razor blade" style steels that I've tried from Sandvik have really been pretty nice, and they would probably be well suited to a small, precise knife like the Urban.

Do you have any s390?

I saw a guy on BladeForums (I think he's in Poland) who swears by the stuff, but I've never held a blade made from it in real life.

Any feedback on how it performs?

I keep hearing people talk about Vanax. The little Urban would be the perfect introduction.

I saw that, and I wish I had some. That's why we need a mule in s390!

I'm tempted to buy one of his customs. They look really sweet.

Sanctified Bovine! Look at this S390 http://zknives.com/knives/steels/steelg ... hrn=1&gm=0

W is 10.4% and V is 4.8%, and it has low Cr and high C.

What do you guys think of this steel?

My best guess would be that it may be similar to Maxamet or HAP 72. With enough hot hardness to cut through lava? :)

I'd love to have a carbon series so go on with M4, 52100, super blue, A2, maxamet, 3v etc.
At least M 390 for the stainless aficionados.

There are so many options when it comes to European steel. As mentioned earlier there are the Bohler and Sandvik options and don't forget Damasteel (I have been pretty impressed with RWL34 in the lil Nilakka). For all those members of the Patina Platoon, there's also XC75/XC100, inexpensive carbon steel but very popular with custom makers.

A titanium version with Vanax sounds pretty darn cool, with corrosion resistance of LC200 and edge holding of Elmax, I'm sure it would sell very well indeed.

But let's start with an m390 version and take it from there.....
Currently enjoying Spyderco's in - S30V, VG10, Super Blue, Cruwear x4, CTS XHP, S110V x2, M4 x3, S35VN, CTS 204P x2, S90V, HAP 40, K390, RWL34, MAXAMET, ZDP 189, REX 45

I think the only people with info are going to be on Bladeforums--the people who've bought a custom from Adam Kornalski in Poland.

His knives look really nice, and I have found several BladeForums threads where he's sold them, so there have to be some floating around in the forum membership there you could hear feedback on.

His web site has photos and contact info, but it looks like Facebook is his primary (internet) communication, and he puts up finished blades on BladeForums for sale. (https://www.kornalski.com.pl)

I'm definitely interested in learning more.

Vanax interests me quite a lot, however. I really want to see an Urban LW in this steel.
