Sig Sauer X5's
Im just now getting around to doing the thread I promised - about the Sig X5's I bought a few months ago. Every since I started in law enforcement (1992) Ive always used Sig. Back then, the P220. Fast forward 2015, along with the German export ban the fact that all Sigs will be made in the US, even the new X5/6 line. The fact that the two models I have are first generation X5/6 hand made by Sigs Master Smitheys in the Sig Mastershop. The new X5/6 that are made in Germany are not made by Sigs Master Smitheys in the Sig MasterShop. I just wanted a couple before theyre all gone. Now, the new modular X5/6 are fine pistols no doubt. Still German made. No MIM afaik. At any rate, I really like the style of the 1st gen X5/6 non-rail much better than I like the new modular X-Line. The first X5, that I will show is the Sig X5 Black & White - A Sig Sauer MasterShop Individual Series pistol in 9MM. Its has Sigs incredible self adjusting trigger. Adjustable for trigger weight/pull, reach, and over travel. The trigger weight/pull according to Sig, is I think 3.5 to 2.2 pounds? I could be wrong, but I, really believe that to be very close. I have mine set right below 3 pounds. 2.75 I believe. She's a beautiful piece if I don't say so myself. The other Sig X5 is the MasterShop Competition model in .40 S&W. She's all stainless. However, with the help of BarSto, I have successfully converted her to a .357 Sig. Needless to say, with a 5" barrel and some Underwood ammo, shes pushing some very serious heat. Im talking 700 + ft lbs. So without any further ado, ill get on to the pics. I appreciate yall letting me post these and I certainly hope you enjoy this little piece of gun porn

Thank you :)twinboysdad wrote:Man what a beautiful gun and tack driver too
They do make target shooting a bit easier
Also, the bottom target was shot using the original 40 S&W barrel and ammo.

Good lord, Mac! Those are two stunning firearms. :) Of course, I've always enjoyed Sigs' firearms too. Beautiful!
The only problem is, what in the world is that Patriots hat doing in the background? :p

I agree. Mr. Sydow has my dream job lol.....
Of course, I know some guys - my dad included, that can group them a lot tighter than that @25M w/ the X5.
And, Ive no doubt Mr. Sydow could as well. He prolly does at least 10-20 of those a day. Or used to.....

Re: Sig Sauer X5's
the first gun is beautiful.
the second one i don't like quite so much - i don't know why, maybe just the wood grips.
i am sure they are both nice to shoot though

Thank you. They're both really nice to shoot. Especially the 9MM. Very soft recoil. + she holds 19..Echo63 wrote:the first gun is beautiful.

Re: Sig Sauer X5's
Something about the Sigs, they've never really clicked for me. They shoot well, and they're well made, but I've never enjoyed them as much as the 1911's, Glocks, and P99's that I've shot. Still, if I had the money, I would gladly add one of those X5's to the arsenal. Something that nice, I'm sure I could grow to like it. Those are some beautiful pistols.
Also, Nill Grips. If there's one way polymer frame guns will always be deficient, it's that there is no way to add some Nill grips to them.

I hear ya loud and clear brother. A 1911 trigger is just about impossible to beat imo. This adj X5 is as nice imo.StuntZombie wrote:Something about the Sigs, they've never really clicked for me. Glocks are just about indestructible. However, have you tried the new Sig P320? They say she's a real Glock killer...been a few Glock guys converting....

Re: Sig Sauer X5's
I saw that you mentioned the X5 was a soft shooter. I think that's been my biggest issue with the 226 and 228. They just seemed to have more perceived recoil than my Glock 26 or even my PPS. I think that higher bore may have had something to do with it, along with the fact I haven't fired nearly as many rounds through Sig guns.MacLaren wrote:I hear ya loud and clear brother. Funny you mention the P320. A friend of mine discovered he prefers the 9mm over .45 chambered guns, so I was shopping around for him. When I came across the 320's, I kept thinking I might have to convert as well. I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet, but I like the idea of a pistol that can be everything from a range gun, to a concealed carry just by swapping out the grip, barrel and slide.
