List of all model you should only buy from reputable dealer

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

List of all model you should only buy from reputable dealer

#1

Post by Laethageal »

In this post, I'm trying to list (with pictures/name/model number) every model and variation that have been counterfeit since 2013.
It should pretty much include everything that has been produced since mid 2013 but I can't tell for before as I wasn't scanning for new fake daily at that time. If you're looking for the newest addition I found, check the time list at the bottom of this post under the link.
For easier browsing, each model name is now a direct link to the right post as I didn't bother to re-edit every post to put them in alphabetical order. At the bottom of each post I added a quick link to get back to the first post if you want to look for another particular model as scrolling back might be unusually long with all those pictures.

This list is meant to help people figure if a knife they just bought/are about to buy is a real one or not. I posted some pictures of the fakes so you can compare them to the real one and find what is wrong. Some fakes are really close to the real thing visually speaking and would need much experience to spot without deep inspection. On the other hand, you should know that counterfeit doesn't use the steel type as stamped on the blade, nor do they go under the right heat threatment as they are meant for a quick buck to those reseller. Edge retention, lock durability and knife durability is unknown and might vary from one specimen to the other. It also means that those model shouldn't be bought elsewhere then authorized Spyderco dealer or someone you thrust, at least that's my opinion, to avoid the trouble of dealing witha counterfeit.

Also, I would ask that people doesn't point out the different mistakes those copycat made with their knife so that this thread doesn't become a place where they come looking for "advice" on what to fix on their counterfeit so people can't spot them. Comments, new model (ideally with pictures from a limitless provider like imgur.com or directly sent on Spyderco forum) are welcome. If you do post a new counterfeit, I will add it to the list and link it to your post. For pictures of a new variation of an already listed fake, please PM me a link to it so I can add it directly in the right post. It will avoid having twice the picture in the thread and keep things clear to browse.

Copy of Fixed blade, couldn't find the exact name.

Reminds me of the techno:

And some various Spyderco copies that I could not find the name if they are a copy, and some that have absolutly nothing to do with Spyderco.

Pukko FB28 - Easy to spot fake as the stamping on the blade is pretty simplish. Handle isn't in the same material/color neither. End of product code is wrong.

If it's not polished, call it a saw, not an edge!

Not to support any copying of designs or anything of the sort, but the Spydie-bug mosaic pins are nicely done.
