Ha ha made ya look! I never really understood the appeal of a ballistic knife anyway. Even the "serious" study of throwing knives always made me scratch my head.

Context is everything. The 80's were a crazy time filled with ninjas and action stars. Magazines that never ran dry and rippling abs that defied plot lines.
The only thing the ballistic knife accomplished was to hit the bullseye of legislature making it federally outlawed. Practicality wise, it was no more or less silly than an arm powered throwing knife. Those did contribute to some rad Rambo flicks tho :).
