Post by apollo »

Hi guy's I have my Rubicon for almost a week now. And man this is the love of my life! Everyday i play hours with it.
And to Honor this beautyfull design i think it should have his own picture thread.
Now I am not the best in taking picture's. But i know some of you are ;).
So here are my best pic's of the king of my collection.. And i hope many will join me and let us see many brothers and Sisters ;).

This is a tricky knife to photograph due to the glossy finish on the carbon fiber. Hopefully I get my hands on one of these so that I can contribute to the thread. You've started things off nicely!

I finally get to add to this thread. It's nice to be in the club ;)
I'll have to get out the nice camera eventually, for now a cellphone pic will have to do.

Welcome to the club liquid Cobra. ;)

Very nice picture even if it is made with just a cellphone :).

In a few minutes i am going to take another bike ride and i'm taking my Rubicon and camera with me. I hope i can make a few extra nice pic's now the sun is shining. And they placed a WWII baileybridge nearby on the river so i hope there is a moment when the bridge is just mine for a few minutes :D

I'm really digging that shot of the rubicon up in a tree. This will sound silly, but this is the first knife I've owned that reminds me of a dinosaur. Childish I know, but the carbon fiber scale pattern along with the pointy spine and the shape of the blade remind me of a lizard of some sort. My own personal pocket lizard if you will. Ok that's just wrong, but I think you get my meaning.

I created a thread in the general discussion area but I'll ask the question here as all of you own the same knife. Have you noticed and scratching or dings on the polished carbon fiber scales from carry/use? If so, does it bug you? Is this knife a user or part of your collection? Are you carrying it?

Thanks!

Donovan

Hi Donovan.

Now looking at it from your perspective indeed you can see a dino in there a bit. :)
I must say the Rubicon is not my edc work knife. But i have it on me every evening and in the weekend every day and i also use it for lighter tasks.
( i can not leave it behind it is my preciouse :D i am turning in to smeagol XD)
And at this point it did not scratch yet. Would it bug me if it would? Yes maybe a day maybe 2 then i would love it even more. :) Any knife that is really apreciated will have scratch on it in time. :) because a knife can be beautyfull but the most beautyfull thing about it will always be how good it cuts and feels in your hand. :)

Thanks for the welcome. It is good to be here. :)

I used a hand held mirror, about 9" square. When I started shooting it started sprinkling but I just kept on. I thought it came out pretty good for an amateur.

Hi Don very nice close ups. :)

this is a new one from mine. I made a kind of homemade very low qualitie micro fotostudio with some wood a few pieces of papertowl and a lot of papertape.
Then in combination with an old light.
I made this one.

Nice thread! Thx Apollo for starting it :)

Image

Image

Image

Awesome grind and I love the bidirectional finish on the blade

Image

Sweet jimping

Image

Awesome Pivot inlay

Image

Nice custom clip

Image

Great jimping compensating the lack off a cut out

Image

And a cool backspacer

Image

Is this custom quality on a production knife? Don't know, but I have seen worse customs...
