My first 2 regrinds

#1

Post by _centurio_ »

hey guys,

I just finished my first 2 regrinds (done on a belt grinder with variable speed, 2000x50mm belts). Bad pictures sorry. It worked quite good, I have to pay more attention on the tip and ricasso-area. Belts used: 60 and 100 grit zirconium-corundum. I ordered some 40 grit ceramic belts today ;)

Looks good, man. Have you experimented with 3M Trizact Gator belts? I like them for finish work; they leave a superb satin finish that really looks nice.

Thanks ;) i ordered quite a lot of belts yesterday, also a 800 grit trizact for finishing. I also want to try cubitron when my technique is better.

Pics are very bad, it is so hard to show the grindlines.

Results are getting better and better.

Very nice setup, centurio. Did you make your own grinder by chance? If so, what HP is your motor?

Thanks. I bought it from a german knifemaker who didn't need it anymore. 2,45 horsepower.

Here my latest regrind. I am quite pleased with the result. 40 grit ceramic belt.

Very nice, man. I've been toying with getting a 2x72" grinder for a while now. Those things are pretty expensive, though. :(

Man you're doing good fo your first regrinds.. :D I finish at 120 or 220 zirc. Leaves a really nice satin. I also made a glass platen for my grinder.

I give it 2 months and every single knife is reground
