Re: There's a hole in my knife...
Before reading the description, I thought it was one of the only models without a hole in the blade.

Great earth tones in that photo!
And kind of matching bolsters between knives, too.

Ah, I did not know it was directly related to the Sage 4 in inspiration. I thought most Al Mars like that used micarta though, not wood?

Re: There's a hole in my knife...
They put info about the design on the product page. I didn't know the Sage 4 was discontinued and that it is the only Sage that is discontinued.

Re: There's a hole in my knife...
Thanks, The lighting on the Sage looks really good, but the Al Mar is a little dark. I couldn't quite get the Al Mar logo and the Spyder logo in perfect focus at the same time because of the low light in the woods.SpeedHoles wrote:Great earth tones in that photo!
Re: There's a hole in my knife...
Spyderco tries to do that with all the sages, like the sage 2 is full titanium to follow a classic crk design :)SpeedHoles wrote:Holland wrote:the bolster and wood al mar design is what the sage 4 is mimickingSpeedHoles wrote:Great earth tones in that photo!

Cool, I guess I didn't realize. Good to learn something fresh!
I have seen people refer to the Sage 2 as a Spyderco version of a Sebenza, but I just thought it was out of their opinion only...
The only one I have is a Blue G10 Sage 3. What is that one a tribute to?
Edit: OK I just saw the Spyderco catalog description of the Sage 3 mentioning Blackie Collins.

Re: There's a hole in my knife...
BTW, The blue Sage 3 is also discontinued, but it was replaced with the carbon fiber version. I haven't heard of a replacement coming for the Sage 4. It really is a great knife, and the wood scales make it unique and beautiful. :spyder:
Re: There's a hole in my knife...
I would bet they will release something to replace it. It would be weird to be missing a piece of the seriesremnar wrote:BTW, The blue Sage 3 is also discontinued, but it was replaced with the carbon fiber version. Beautiful shot. BTW I didn't know the Sage4 was inspired in that Al Mar model.

I don't know if it was inspired by a specific model or just the fine back locks that Al Mar produces in general.Titomake wrote:Beautiful shot. BTW I didn't know the Sage4 was inspired inthat Al Mar model.
