Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
Egg McMuffins, grilled cheese, Reubens, Monte Christos, etc, as well as ethnic variations. What do you all think? Yay or Nae? I love them.
Re: Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
Love a good Reuben...that sounds really good right now might have to make that happen for dinner :D
I'm pretty much down for anything with melted cheese on it lol.

Re: Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
I don't eat any dairy, which includes cheese, so there's not much melting going on in my world. So thanks for rubbing salt in that wound!

I like all of the ones named, as well as paninis.

Patty. Melt.
Re: Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
Made some grilled pb&j's for my twins and I yesterday. No cheese is no excuse!
Reubens and patty melts are glorious as well.

Now try it with bacon. I am super serious about this.Apophis wrote:Made some grilled pb&j's for my twins and I yesterday.
Most sandwiches are better hot/grilled/toasted. In fact, I can't really think of one that isn't. The toaster oven is a wondrous machine. I myself have been sticking mostly to barbecue lately. Last night I smoked a brisket and just had a sandwich with Cooper American cheese and cole slaw. The cheese melting in with the grease is like heroin to me, especially since I can't move much after a heavy dose.
Re: Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
I like my own creation: the Jerry sandwich. You take 2 one side dipped in egg French toast pieces, Swiss cheese on each, diced onion on one side, heated in a pan sauerkraut on one, hot mustard, and heated turkey, and it has to come with a pickle. Give it a try. They sell quite well whenever I feature them where I work.
- best wishes, Jazz.

I ain't skeered!, just a little disappointed I hadn't done it on my own yet, lol. I have made them with a layer of potato chips in the middle. Awesome...PayneTrain wrote:Now try it with bacon. I am super serious about this.Apophis wrote:Made some grilled pb&j's for my twins and I yesterday.

Re: Melted Sandwiches: You all like?
I can relate. I really like cheese (especially on my salads) but my faulty digestive system sometimes wages a full-out jihad on me when I over-do it on the dairy intake. One of my favorite dishes is charbroiled chicken smothered in mozzarella cheese. Good stuff.tvenuto wrote:I don't eat any dairy, which includes cheese, so there's not much melting going on in my world. So thanks for rubbing salt in that wound!

Don't feel bad, I felt the same way when my friend told me to try it only a couple years ago. If this forum had a facepalm smilie, this is where I'd use it. It's just another example to show that bacon really does go with everything.Apophis wrote: I ain't skeered!, just a little disappointed I hadn't done it on my own yet, lol.

No way, you've never had a reuben? It's a fantastic sandwich. I even get a reuben hot dog from time to time from this little shop I found.O,just,O wrote:??? Could someone please tell me what reubens are. ?

There are a couple variations, but what I understand as the standard is corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and 1000 island/russian dressing on rye, I believe marble rye is the most traditional. Now it can also be done with pastrami, and I've seen it done with mustard instead of 1000 island, and if you use turkey and coleslaw it's called a Rachel. But of course, it's grilled or toasted.

I'm also a big fan of grilled ham and cheese, and if you slice a red onion and throw some in it's pretty amazing.
