A 500 pound Grouper  I knew those Groupers got big but when I was in Florida I believe the biggest one I remember was in about the 350 pound range where I was living at. But we got a lot of big Red Snappers that I believe are better eating anyway
I remember the TV Show RIVER MONSTERS with Jeremy Wade when he caught that extremely big Grouper late one night when he was trying to catch a bull shark but instead he snagged this monster Grouper. I distinctly remember Jeremy Wade saying that was one of the most difficult landings he ever had fishing from the shoreline and not having the advantage of being in a boat.
Whoa!! I do wonder what type and brand of tackle he was using to land that bad boy?? That's very interesting indeed Palladin Oh and by the way congratulations on your 1000th post :)

Your not trying to rub it in now are you SURF  ? But hey I will admit that I envy you immensely if you can fish when the rest of us are toiling at our jobs :o I know what you're going to say>> It's a rough life but somebody's got to live it :D Now about those Snapper fillets we were talking about the other day :DSurfingringo wrote:Haha...just remember though, that guy was back at work on Monday. Not sure if you will see that JD. Based on the lack of chatter around here, I'm not sure the Tusk was such a moneymaker for them. I'm not sure they would go to the trouble (and expense) to produce more in a different blade style. I love mine but I prefer it in plain edge...and because of the price I would have to choose just one. With a $50 salt I can just buy one of each...pe and se that is. So the short answer is no, I would not buy a se Tusk and if i were a betting man I'd say we will never see one. Who knows...I've been wrong before. :)

Re: Hey Lance, there's a new sheriff in town...
This reminds me of a question I had for you guys who do alot of fishing in both fresh and salt water: When it comes to fish that can bite people, most think of stuff like sharks, baracuda, piranha, etc. But what are some other fish types that could bite and do severe or even not so severe damage? I'm just curious as to what to watch out for :)
Example: I've been told muskies and pike could bite, what about those groupers in the pics? Are their teeth significant enough to do damage to a human?
What about things like bluegill, sea bass, etc?
When I was a kid we went to Pensacola Florida, and the National Seashore, and I saw small (as in six to ten feet) sharks come right up to sandbars and we caught a seabass; it had spines.

You have to be careful with big Wahoo. Strong jaws and razor blade teeth. They can amputate. A lot of different fish can be dangerous. I had a triggerfish almost bite my index finger off...felt like it anyway. ****, even a big Snapper can ruin your day!
