Forum Maintenance & Move
Forum Maintenance & Move
Hey, everyone:
Please be aware that on Wednesday, 20-Feb at 09:00 a.m. (MST) the forum will be down for maintenance and a move. We're moving the forum to its own server and when it comes back up, you'll find it at forum.spyderco.com. Don't worry, the existing URL will automatically forward you there when we're back up but I wanted you to understand why you'll see a new URL in your address bar (I know some of you look there ). For those of you who have bookmarked or pinned a tab to the forum, I would recommend that you update the URL after we complete the move and are up and running again.
Our forum database is huge so I expect it to be down for approximately 3-4 hours while we move the data and then test everything before we bring it back up.
Thanks much for your patience while we continue to improve our forum "house."
Kristi

Re: Forum Maintenance & Move
Hi Kristi,
Do you know what will happen to bookmarks of individual threads? Will the old link forward to the thread on the new server, or will there be an easy conversion (I.e., would this thread become something like forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82721)? Thanks for everything you do to keep this place going.

Re: Forum Maintenance & Move
Thank you for your excellent service on the forum and customer service in general and help on these things, Kristi.
Will all of our posts be stored and kept on here and information and format be the same as it is?

Thank you, everyone, for the support!
Our plan is that existing links shared here will automatically forward to the new forum URL and hopefully, that will be seamless for everyone. We'll be putting that same logic in place at Spydiewiki.com as well.
