Roadie Bite: Achievement unlocked!

#1

Post by timlara »

Today I was Spyderbitten by a knife that's not even released yet! That's got to be some kind of new record.

Ran into Gail Glesser at the SFO and she let me play around with the Roadie she was carrying. Verdict? Yep, it's sharp!

PROTIP: Do not attempt to close a two-handed knife with one hand... :o

(Sal, please pass on my thanks to Gail for acting as first responder on the scene! :D )

So, is it as cool a knife as we're hoping? What color was Mrs. Glesser carrying?
- best wishes, Jazz.

Hi Tim,

Had Gail laughing at your post. She told me about it when she got home. She was first responder for years so she has some experience.

It's extremely cool. Very sleek and watch-pocket friendly with ergos similar to the Kiwi. Gail was carrying the black version, but I sort of think I want the red one now in honor of this experience. :D

I could tell! Luckily now I can use the money I saved on an urgent care visit to pick up my "blood brother" once he's in stock. :)

Always enjoy chatting with you guys when you're at the store.

I bet the next time you visit the SFO they make you wear welders gloves :D

Anyway what were your thoughts on the Roadie, how did it feel in hand etc?

Yes, I should probably not be allowed back without adult supervision. My wife would probably be in favor of that anyway! :)

Although the Roadie is quite small (only 5" OAL and 2" blade), like the Kiwi it feels bigger in hand thanks to the forward choil grip. All jokes aside about my "testing", the blade shape is very functional and should (umm..does?) cut like a scalpel. The build quality seemed very good and I liked the contours of the handle as they really do "class up" the FRN and make it seem more like micarta or something a little fancier, which is great because I actually prefer the light weight and durability of FRN as a practical handle material. I am expecting them to become quite popular.

I'm particulary fond of the orange, gray and blue ones. I'm leaning toward orange I think.
