Yeah Chuck, very nice photo. That smurf blue just begs to sit in the fruit bowl with the other happy colors. I am loving mine, too.

Like you, I have not yet put on my own edge. I am curious to learn if M390 is aggressive with a polished edge or if it needs a lower polish to have that "bite."

Imo, it's also aggressive with a polished edge.

A little overpriced, but this is also coming from a guy who spent $200 on a knife...lol. So, take that with a grain of salt. Otherwise it's a top quality product!

Not sure if this is a dumb question but are all sprint run Para 2's numbered? If not, why are only some numbered?

Thx.

Not all are numbered. Only the collector's club Para 2's are numbered. There can be up to 200 people in the collector's club, so up to 200 of the first ones are numbered for them. The club isn't full, so there are actually less than 200 numbered ones that go out. Check out The Deacon's page with a more in depth explanation of the numbering: http://paulberetta.com/spy101_numbered_knives.htm

does either the m390 or the 20-CP come with just a slight side to side blade play?

Neither one of mine has any side to side blade play (my 20CP was dyed purple):

Both of my M390s were perfect out-of-the-box, but my 20CP suffered from horizontal blade play. I think that this is a known issue. I was able to fix it by loosening the pivot screw a quarter-turn, making sure the blade was centered, then re-tightening it. I hope this helps.

My m390 PM2 from BBS came thursday this week. Super impressed so far. Perfect specimen out of the box regarding centering, lock, blade play, etc. Spyderco put A LOT of love into making the m390 PM2! :D

I know the price is a little high right now, but it appears that BBS only has about 30 more of these in stock (according to the old "cart trick"). If you were sitting on the fence about whether to pick this one up or not, you should probably speed up your decision because they could be gone by next week.

Disclaimer: It is possible that there are still a pile of them waiting in the wings after these sell out, but I don't think so.

I liked mine well enough that I bit the proverbial bullet and bought a spare/backup. M390 from Spyderco is at the current top of the class. The rough texture G10 is great. Blue is up to you, but I like it - you might, too.
