Unashamedly positive post about my new Native 5 G10
Enough of gripes and squabbles...
.... I just got a N5 G10 and I love it!
For me, these honest Spyderco designs are where it's at (for) now. They have soul & pedigree, not too showy, not too precious.
Maybe I should get that Caly 3 SE as well...

I wouldn't mind a Todd Begg Collab :D
Sal could name it "The Bodacious"
Congratz man. I agree with what you said.

I'm a big fan of the Native 5. It's an excellent cutting tool with great ergos and a rock solid lock. Small and lightweight for easy carry. This might be my favorite spyderco design. Congrats on the pick up.
I'm a fan of deep carry clips and the stock clip is my only gripe with the N5, but that is easily fixable.

Hi Chris,
Can you (or someone else) kindly tell me where you found the G10/S35VN Native 5 in stock? I've been looking for several weeks without success. Thanks!

Congrats on Native5. It is the great knife and on very top of my list. I carry one of them daily for years.
Caly3 SE could be a little challenging. The knife was discontinued few years ago.
Enjoy your Native5

I'd like to know this as well. I've been looking for the past couple months and these are no where to be found - except on ebay w/inflated prices.jimmyjohnjohn wrote:Hi Chris,

Sorry guys... It was a mint 2nd hand one. Still cost more than you would pay for new in the US mind. "New to me", perhaps I should have said. Sorry to raise false hopes.

Congratulations, Chris … it's always nice to find a knife that fits.
I picked up 2 of the G-10 N5's when they first came out, and somehow I was foolish enough to let both of them go … been regretting it ever since …

Great knife. Congrats. :)
I've got 5 so far and still want to add the Fluted Ti version. Pic here needs to be updated to include my non-forum S110V peel-ply CF Native. And, sorry guys, the G10 in the pic was purchased some time ago...

Here's all the Native 5's available, plus a couple that aren't !
Missing the orange custom and lightweight FRN versions in this pic:
I love this platform, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the special place it holds in both the hearts of its fans and its makers. Cheers, Radioactive :)

Thank you Saintly, although Luke at Cuscadi and Steve Ketchen deserve all the credit. Here's a few shots next to the desert ironwood Sage 4.

Photo, as requested.
The Native 5 appears to be one half of a Kiwi 4!

Have you noticed that the little extra finishing touches aren't there on the Sage 4 as opposed to the Native 5.
I'm particularly speaking of the Sage. The blade spine and thumb hole aren't champfered to knock off the sharp edge like on the Native. Same way on my Chaparrel. Not a big deal as the Taiwan knives are solidly built and are good knives. But I'd like to see the little extra like on the G10 Native. One of my favs.

Re: Unashamedly positive post about my new Native 5 G10
That's pretty typical of Taiwan spydies. They all leave the factory with very sharp edges on the spine and spydie hole. That's been the case on every Taichung spyderco I've owned, the exceptions being the knives with stonewashed blades, as that process naturally softens the edges.joe58 wrote:Have you noticed that the little extra finishing touches aren't there on the Sage 4 as opposed to the Native 5.
